Details of Survey Results (Excerpts)

[Respondent Profile]

[Part-time and Casual Job Seekers: Non-negotiable and Negotiable Job Search Conditions]

Non-negotiable items: "Location/commute convenience" 62.0%, "Working hours, days" 54.9%

Negotiable items: "Wages, salary" 28.7%, "Job content" 27.4%, "Employment type" 25.3%

We asked individuals seeking part-time or casual employment who applied for jobs about their non-negotiable and negotiable job search conditions (up to 3 items each).

The most frequent "non-negotiable item" was "Location/commute convenience" at 62.0%, followed by "Working hours, days" at 54.9%, with these two items significantly outranking others. In the "Reasons for applying for jobs" section (P3), the top reason was "Easy to commute from home," and the second was "Can choose desired working hours/days," indicating these are absolute requirements for working part-time or casually.

The most frequent "negotiable item" was "Wages, salary" at 28.7%, followed by "Job content" at 27.4%, and "Employment type" at 25.3%.

Although "Desired job content" was high in the "Reasons for applying for jobs" section, it was at a similar level for both non-negotiable and negotiable items, around 30%. Job content appears to be a bonus factor for applications, but applications may still be made even if the job content is not ideal, as long as other conditions are met.

[Full-time Regular Employee Seekers: Non-negotiable and Negotiable Job Search Conditions]

Non-negotiable items: "Location/commute convenience" 48.6%, "Wages, salary" 37.1%, "Workplace environment" 28.6%

Negotiable items: "Wages, salary", "Employment type", "Job content" all 34.3%

We asked individuals seeking full-time regular employment who applied for jobs about their non-negotiable and negotiable job search conditions (up to 3 items each).

The most frequent "non-negotiable item" was "Location/commute convenience" at 48.6%, followed by "Wages, salary" at 37.1%, and "Workplace environment" at 28.6%. The most frequent "negotiable items" were "Wages, salary", "Employment type", and "Job content" (all 34.3%).

While job content-related items were high in the "Reasons for applying for jobs" section, they did not rank high among non-negotiable items and appeared high among negotiable items. For those seeking full-time regular employment, job content may be one of the "appeals that encourage application," but this might be contingent on other conditions being met.

"Wages, salary" appeared high in both "non-negotiable items" and "negotiable items." This suggests that job seekers have differing views on wages. While not necessarily an absolute requirement, it appears there are individuals who set a minimum acceptable salary level and others who are willing to compromise somewhat on salary.

[Reasons for applying for jobs (for part-time and casual job seekers)]

"Easy to commute from home" 53.2%, "Can choose desired working hours/days" 45.6%,

"Desired job content" 35.4%

We asked individuals seeking part-time or casual employment who applied for jobs about the reasons they chose the jobs they applied for (multiple responses allowed). The most frequent reason was "Easy to commute from home" at 53.2%, followed by "Can choose desired working hours/days" at 45.6%, and "Desired job content" at 35.4%. In selecting a job, flexibility in working hours and days, in addition to commuting convenience, appears to be an important decision criterion.

Regarding the relationship with gender, "men" were 8.2 points higher than "women" for "Can start working soon." The proportion of men who see the short period from application to employment start as an advantage is higher compared to women. On the other hand, "women" were 14.7 points higher than "men" for "Desired working hours," 10.2 points higher for "Can work within the scope of dependent status," and 8.9 points higher for "Easy to commute from home." They appear to prioritize work-life balance, consideration for income restrictions, and commuting conditions.

[Reasons for applying for jobs (for full-time regular employee seekers)]

"Can utilize skills and experience" 48.6%,

"Desired job content", "Easy to commute from home" 42.9%

We asked individuals seeking full-time regular employment who applied for jobs about the reasons they chose the jobs they applied for (multiple responses allowed). The most frequent reason was "Can utilize skills and experience" at 48.6%, followed by "Desired job content" and "Easy to commute from home" at 42.9%. This suggests that applicants are strongly considering the actual work content and its connection to their career when selecting jobs. "No transfers" and "High wages" also received a certain level of support (31.4%), indicating that ease of life planning is also a significant factor.
