The "ZP Photography Group" will hold a photo exhibition using "zone plates," which are photographic tools that do not use lenses.
In this exhibition, we distance ourselves from quantified photographic performance such as resolution and sharpness, and instead introduce expressions that actively embrace elements like light diffusion, fluctuation, and halos.
Zone plates were developed with the aim of capturing the "atmosphere" of a scene—including the mood, impression, temperature, humidity, and even the gentle rustle of the wind. The works in this exhibition prioritize creating "images" that resemble impressionist paintings, leaving the interpretation to the viewer's senses rather than relying on clear outlines.
Through this exhibition, which re-examines the act of "capturing," we invite you to visit the venue and experience the inherent freedom of photography and the charm of "images" that quietly resonate with the viewer's senses. (40 works on display)
"ZP Photography Group" The ZP Photography Group is a community of professional and high-amateur photography enthusiasts who have gathered to explore photographic expression using zone plates (ZP).
Using "ZNONZ," an optical device for cameras that does not use a lens, we are committed to emotional expression and photographic styles that actively embrace contingency, setting ourselves apart from the current trend that focuses solely on resolution and sharpness.
About "ZNONZ" ZNONZ is an optical device for cameras that does not use a lens. Instead of a standard lens, it uses a concentric optical element called a zone plate to take photographs.
Unlike lenses that utilize the phenomenon of light refraction, zone plates leverage the characteristics of diffraction. Features include unique halos, soft depictions that are not constrained by distance (near or far), and a wide image circle.
ZNONZ is a product that makes these characteristics of the zone plate available in a compact, lightweight, and affordable form.
We will also introduce the exhibition on the "Sirius Blog"! ■ Sirius Blog https://www.photo-sirius.net/blog/ ■ Sirius Official Facebook https://www.facebook.com/photo.sirius
