March 2026 Average Hourly Wage for Part-Time Jobs: Eastern Japan at 1,283 JPY, Western Japan at 1,222 JPY, Marking 14 Consecutive Months of Year-on-Year Growth in Western Japan

Aidem Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Ryo Kabayama), a comprehensive human resources information service, has compiled the average hourly wages for part-time job recruitment in March 2026 from job postings on its job media 'e-aidem' and its recruitment website building service 'Job Gear Sai-soku'.

The survey extracts data on job categories and average recruitment hourly wages weekly, compiling it separately for the Eastern Japan area (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, and 4 other prefectures) and the Western Japan area (Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, and 4 other prefectures).

The results showed that the average hourly wage in the Eastern Japan area was 1,283 JPY, and in the Western Japan area, it was 1,222 JPY. The average hourly wage in the Western Japan area has seen a year-on-year increase for 14 consecutive months.

The overall average hourly wage in the Eastern Japan area increased by 55 JPY year-on-year to 1,283 JPY

By major job category, the average hourly wages were: 'Professional/Technical' at 1,419 JPY (up 74 JPY YoY), 'Cleaning/Maintenance' at 1,307 JPY (up 80 JPY YoY), 'Clerical' at 1,282 JPY (up 77 JPY YoY), 'Manufacturing/Driver' at 1,277 JPY (up 88 JPY YoY), 'Food/Beverage Service' at 1,239 JPY (up 42 JPY YoY), and 'Sales/Customer Service' at 1,219 JPY (up 27 JPY YoY). All job categories saw a year-on-year increase.

The overall average hourly wage in the four Kanto prefectures increased by 62 JPY year-on-year to 1,310 JPY

By major job category, the average hourly wages were: 'Professional/Technical' at 1,434 JPY (up 72 JPY YoY), 'Cleaning/Maintenance' at 1,320 JPY (up 77 JPY YoY), 'Manufacturing/Driver' at 1,312 JPY (up 100 JPY YoY), 'Clerical' at 1,304 JPY (up 75 JPY YoY), 'Food/Beverage Service' at 1,269 JPY (up 53 JPY YoY), and 'Sales/Customer Service' at 1,240 JPY (up 29 JPY YoY). All job categories saw a year-on-year increase. By prefecture, the average hourly wages were: Tokyo at 1,347 JPY (up 59 JPY YoY), Kanagawa at 1,339 JPY (up 75 JPY YoY), Chiba at 1,255 JPY (up 74 JPY YoY), and Saitama at 1,247 JPY (up 65 JPY YoY). All prefectures saw a year-on-year increase.

The overall average hourly wage in the Western Japan area increased by 36 JPY year-on-year to 1,222 JPY

By major job category, the average hourly wages were: 'Professional/Technical' at 1,282 JPY (down 70 JPY YoY), 'Cleaning/Maintenance' at 1,193 JPY (up 54 JPY YoY), 'Clerical' at 1,190 JPY (up 45 JPY YoY), 'Food/Beverage Service' at 1,190 JPY (up 52 JPY YoY), 'Manufacturing/Driver' at 1,188 JPY (up 16 JPY YoY), and 'Sales/Customer Service' at 1,185 JPY (up 67 JPY YoY). Five job categories saw a year-on-year increase, while one saw a decrease.

The overall average hourly wage in the three Kansai prefectures increased by 34 JPY year-on-year to 1,237 JPY

By major job category, the average hourly wages were: 'Professional/Technical' at 1,284 JPY (down 67 JPY YoY), 'Clerical' at 1,219 JPY (up 54 JPY YoY), 'Food/Beverage Service' at 1,214 JPY (up 53 JPY YoY), 'Manufacturing/Driver' at 1,211 JPY (up 25 JPY YoY), 'Cleaning/Maintenance' at 1,206 JPY (up 53 JPY YoY), and 'Sales/Customer Service' at 1,196 JPY (up 66 JPY YoY). Five job categories saw a year-on-year increase, while one saw a decrease. By prefecture, the average hourly wages were: Osaka at 1,259 JPY (up 25 JPY YoY), Kyoto at 1,222 JPY (up 41 JPY YoY), and Hyogo at 1,200 JPY (up 43 JPY YoY). All prefectures saw a year-on-year increase.
