The foundation will host the 'Teenage Ambassador' program from June 17 to June 22, inviting 32 high school students from Vietnam as exchange partners to Japan.
The Teenage Ambassador program was previously held in November 2023 with Vietnam as the partner country.
The 'Teenage Ambassador' program has been conducted for 36 years since 1990, aiming to deepen international mutual understanding and friendship by enabling high school students from Japan and overseas to visit each other's countries, experience cultures and traditions, and build friendships. Students act as young ambassadors, engaging in three main activities: courtesy visits, cultural exchange, and historical-cultural experiences. To date, by the end of fiscal year 2025, a total of 2,721 students from 18 countries have participated. This marks the fifth exchange with Vietnam, with 212 Vietnamese students having taken part so far.
During the program, Japanese and Vietnamese high school students will pay courtesy visits to the Prime Minister's Office and the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Japan. Starting June 19, participants will disperse to the regions where their host schools are located. Through homestays and classroom experiences, they will deepen their understanding of each other's cultures, and visit historical sites and local facilities unique to each region to learn about each other's history and culture. In October, 32 Japanese high school students will travel to Vietnam to continue the exchange.
