AEON Launches Limited-Edition 'Ehime Ponkan Sour' Using Ehime Prefecture Ponkan

AEON will launch a limited-edition 'Ehime Ponkan Sour' from Friday, June 12, 2026, at AEON Group stores including AEON, AEON STYLE, and Fuji. The product is supervised by Master Sommelier Yutaka Takano and co-developed with Godo Shusei Co., Ltd., using ponkan juice from Ehime Prefecture.

The 'Ehime Ponkan Sour' features the juicy flavor of ponkan, for which Ehime Prefecture is Japan's top producer. It contains no artificial sweeteners and is crafted at a low 3% alcohol content to highlight the natural sweetness and refreshing acidity of ponkan juice. The can design features Dogo Onsen and the Botchan Train, expressing the local character of Ehime Prefecture.

Ehime Prefecture and AEON signed a comprehensive regional revitalization partnership agreement in 2011, promoting local production for local consumption, expanding sales channels for prefectural products, and developing original products. In the alcoholic beverage category, AEON has been selling 'Ehime Ponkan Sour' since 2021, and this is the fifth edition.

AEON will continue to deliver products rooted in the region through local specialties, enriching daily life and engaging in various activities with local communities.

Yutaka Takano

Born in 1951 in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture. He is the Representative Director of Takano Sohonten Co., Ltd., an advisor to AEON Liquor, and a Master Sommelier. Known as an 'agricultural sommelier,' he is active in a wide range of fields, from service at top-class hotels to lecturing at local community centers on enjoying wine.
