Bio c' Bon Japon Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Moriyuki Yagi; hereinafter "Bio c' Bon") will begin an initiative to visualize contributions to decarbonization using the "Decarbo Score" in collaboration with Earth hacks Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Sumito Sekine; hereinafter "Earth hacks") starting Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Bio c' Bon believes that organic products should not be "special" but rather a choice that can be integrated into daily life. To this end, we are committed to developing products and store environments that consider the environment and society.
To more clearly communicate the value behind these initiatives and products, we are introducing the "Decarbo Score."
The Decarbo Score is an index that numerically indicates how much a product contributes to decarbonization, based on its CO2 emission reduction rate. While environmentally friendly products and services are becoming more widespread, many voices suggest that their differences and value are often unclear. By displaying the Decarbo Score in stores, customers can grasp the environmental contribution at a glance when shopping or selecting products, making it easier to choose products according to their own will. We aim to provide opportunities for customers to participate in sustainable initiatives continuously and effortlessly through their daily shopping.
Bio c' Bon will continue to disseminate information to make organic products easily and enjoyably accessible in daily life, supporting our customers' organic lifestyles.
■ What is Decarbo Score?
It is an index provided by Earth hacks that scores the CO2 emission* reduction rate of products and services. It displays the CO2 emission reduction rate, which changes due to environmentally friendly innovations, compared to products using conventional materials and methods, clearly communicating the environmental contribution of products and services at a glance. As of March 2026, it has been adopted by over 350 companies and applied to over 1,800 products and services.
*CO2 emissions refer to CO2e (greenhouse gas equivalent).
■ Overview of the Initiative
In this initiative, we will select products for daily use and display their Decarbo Score.
