Aeon Pet Co., Ltd., with Ichiro Yonezu as President, has refreshed its corporate philosophy and introduced a new code of conduct. This strategic update is based on the belief that pets contribute to overall societal happiness and that the pet industry can evolve into a vital social function and infrastructure. Since its predecessor's founding approximately 30 years ago, Aeon Pet has focused on 'industrializing the industry' through its retail, grooming, and animal hospital businesses. The company recognizes a significant societal shift where pets are now viewed as 'family (companion animals)' rather than mere 'pets.' Consequently, Aeon Pet aims to expand its role beyond traditional industry boundaries to address social issues like loneliness and an aging society. The new corporate philosophy states: 'For a future where the warmth of pets spreads throughout society, we will continue to create new systems and culture.' The newly established code of conduct comprises seven principles: Integrity (sincerely facing pets and people), Challenge (embracing change and driving the future), Responsibility (striving for the best with high expertise and responsibility), Inclusiveness (respecting diverse ideas and values), Growth (continuously learning and self-improving), Contribution (contributing to social development through work and company growth), and Inspiration (listening to the hearts of pets and customers, exceeding expectations). The renewal process involved a project team of 15 young to mid-career employees, who conducted surveys and interviews with 355 employees and interviewed the company's founders. This year-long discussion re-evaluated the company's origins, industry changes, social challenges, and future direction.
