■Award Winners' Comments

Grand Prize Winner: Daisuke Mukai (むかい・だいすけ)

Thank you very much for this highly honorable award. I am very happy to receive this award about three years after graduation. I have focused not only on my own creative activities but also on spreading the appeal of Nihonga. Going forward, I will continue to study and create art, exploring the possibilities of painting beyond Nihonga.

Kota Iwatani (いわたに・こうた)

Thank you very much for this prestigious award. I believe that Nihonga, while encompassing the seemingly contradictory elements of tradition and innovation, has developed through the techniques and expressions of many predecessors. As a Nihonga artist, I too wish to contribute to its future development.
