Earthquake off the Coast of Mindanao, Philippines | Damage Assessment Begins in Isolated Gran City Due to Road Closures

On June 11, the assessment team entered Gran City, which is believed to have suffered severe damage.

Gran City has experienced significant destruction to homes, public infrastructure, and the livelihoods of its residents due to intense shaking. Many families remain displaced, living in temporary evacuation centers and enduring anxious days.

Immediately after the earthquake, access to Gran City was extremely difficult due to severed roads and impassable conditions. However, as the situation gradually improved, the assessment team was able to enter the area.

In the disaster zone, harsh evacuation life under scorching sun and rescue operations continue, with urgent needs becoming increasingly evident.

The conditions confirmed on-site include the following:

- Damage to housing - Damage to public infrastructure - Impact on livelihoods - Ongoing evacuation life
