Changes in English Education

More than three years have passed since English became a formal subject in elementary schools, and English education for elementary school students is now established nationwide.

Since the 2020 school year for elementary schools and the 2021 school year for junior high schools, the English curriculum guidelines have changed significantly. Currently, 5th and 6th graders have two lessons per week totaling 70 hours of English instruction. English has become a graded subject to balance the four skills of "listening," "speaking," "reading," and "writing."

As a graded subject, the curriculum now covers four skills and five areas, creating a continuous curriculum with junior high school-level English. The goal is "development of the qualities and abilities that form the foundation for communication," which is nearly identical to the previous junior high school curriculum guidelines.

This means the level of English learned in elementary school has risen dramatically and become more difficult.

Furthermore, the implementation grade for "Foreign Language Activities (English)" has been moved forward, starting from 3rd and 4th grade.

Additionally, the number of English words to memorize in junior high school has increased by 400, from 1,200 to 1,600-1,800 words.

Junior high schools aim to conduct classes entirely in English.

Especially in elementary schools, not only English but also programming lessons have become compulsory subjects, significantly changing the learning environment for elementary school students.

And from the 2024 university entrance exams (implemented in January 2025), exams based on the new curriculum guidelines will begin.

Now is the Time for Actimethod's Typing English Learning

Actimethod's strength lies in its learning method that inputs a large amount of English vocabulary in a short time. All conventional English "writing" is done via typing.

Students type English words on a keyboard to build vocabulary. Audio plays while typing words to learn spelling, enabling practice with correct pronunciation.

Once accustomed to typing English, students can type 5-10 times faster than handwriting.

Message from the School Director

I am Nakayama, director of Actimethod Hakozaki School. CBT (computer-based testing) is becoming mainstream in entrance exams and Eiken. At our school, through our unique "typing × English" learning method, we solidify vocabulary at overwhelming speed compared to writing, while simultaneously developing answering skills on PCs. "Having fun while unknowingly acquiring national-level skills" We deliver that kind of amazement to many children. Would you like to acquire lifelong English skills with our next-generation learning method?

[6th grader, student] Now I understand the English in movies!

It's very fun to learn various English words one after another. I can naturally translate Japanese into English, and when I go to the movies, I can roughly understand what the characters are saying in English.

[Parents of kindergarten, 3rd grader, and 6th grader] English skills improved enough to win at the national competition!

A friend told us about a place where you can learn both English and typing, so we went for a trial lesson. The kids were really hooked. They said, "I definitely want to learn this!" Not only had they never touched a computer, but the teacher's lessons were so fun that they started liking English. Now my siblings attend together, and my brother placed 2nd and my sister 3rd in a national English word competition. Their English skills have truly amazed us.
