Changes in English Education
More than three years have passed since English became a formal subject in elementary schools, and English education for elementary school students has become established nationwide.
The curriculum guidelines for English learning changed significantly from the 2020 academic year for elementary schools and from the 2021 academic year for junior high schools. Currently, 5th and 6th graders have two 45-minute classes per week, totaling 70 hours of English instruction per year. English has become a graded subject to balance the development of the four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Now that it is a formal subject, the curriculum has been expanded to four skills and five areas, creating a continuous curriculum with junior high school-level English. The goal is 'to cultivate the qualities and abilities that form the foundation for communication.' This is almost the same as the content of the previous junior high school curriculum guidelines.
This means that the level of English learned during elementary school has risen significantly and become more difficult.
Furthermore, the grade level for starting 'Foreign Language Activities (English)' has been moved up, starting from the 3rd and 4th grades.
Additionally, the number of English words to be memorized in junior high school has increased by 400, from 1,200 to 1,600-1,800 words.
Junior high schools are aiming for all-English instruction.
Especially in elementary schools, the learning environment itself is changing dramatically, with not only English but also programming becoming a compulsory subject.
Furthermore, from the 2024 university entrance exams (held in January 2025), university entrance exams based on the new curriculum guidelines will begin.
Now is the Time for ActiMethod's Typing English Learning
ActiMethod's strength lies in its learning method that allows for massive input of English words in a short time. All conventional English 'writing' is done by typing.
Students type English words on a keyboard at hand to develop their vocabulary. As they type English words while listening to audio and memorize the spelling, they can practice with correct pronunciation.
Once students get used to practicing English by typing, they can type 5 to 10 times faster than practicing by writing with a pencil.

Message from the School Principal
I am Mikami, the principal of Kunitachi School. I myself had a very difficult time learning English in my childhood. That is why I have been raising my own children while trying various things, hoping they would acquire 'usable English' enjoyably.
ActiMethod is the best curriculum that I was convinced was 'the one!' to maximize children's potential. Based on my own experience, I will do my utmost to support parents and expand the future possibilities of their children!
[6th Grader Student]
I can understand the English in movies!
It's a lot of fun to learn various English words one after another. I can now naturally translate Japanese into English, and even when I go to the movies, I can roughly understand what the characters are saying in English.
[Parent of Kindergarten, 3rd Grader, and 6th Grader]
Their English skills improved enough to win prizes in a national competition!
A friend told me about a place where you can learn both English and typing, so I went for a trial lesson. My child was really hooked. They said, 'I definitely want to learn this.' I think it's not just because they had never used a computer before, but also because the teacher's lessons were so fun that they grew to like English. Now, my two children attend the school, and their English skills have improved so much that it's truly surprising. For example, in a vocabulary competition, my son placed 2nd nationally and my daughter placed 3rd nationally.
