Goldwin Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tadashi Watanabe) will open its second Kansai store for its original brand "Goldwin," named "Goldwin Shinsaibashi," on Friday, July 31st, on the 2nd floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO.

Shinsaibashi PARCO is located in Shinsaibashi, a representative commercial area in the Minami district of Osaka, and is a commercial facility where diverse sensibilities in fashion, culture, art, and food converge. It offers high convenience, being directly connected to Shinsaibashi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line. The area attracts many visitors from both local residents and from across Japan and abroad, where high-fashion demand overlaps with broad regional demand from tourism and business.

Following Goldwin Kyoto, which opened in May 2025 as a flagship shop to convey the brand's worldview through space and design in the Kansai area, which serves as the second economic zone, Goldwin Shinsaibashi will operate as a trendship shop. It will resonate with the diverse sensibilities in fashion, culture, and art gathered at Shinsaibashi PARCO, conveying Goldwin's worldview that connects urban and natural environments through collaborations and the rollout of the latest collections.

Goldwin, with its origins in skiing, has provided brand experiences through products that embody functionality and design rooted in Japanese aesthetics, based on the manufacturing spirit of "Dedication to Detail" cherished since its founding, as well as through directly managed stores that offer a meticulous and high-quality customer experience.

By developing stores with different roles in the Kansai area, we aim to further enhance our presence as a globally-oriented brand by disseminating Goldwin's worldview, expanding recognition, and increasing customer touchpoints.

Additionally, as a limited item for Goldwin Shinsaibashi, we will offer a souvenir collection with a logo design by graphic designer Shun Sasaki. To commemorate the opening of this store, we have reviewed the material for our T-shirts and adopted "PlaXTM" (Note 1), a next-generation plant-derived material developed by Bioworks Inc., an investee company of our group company Goldwin Venture Partners, pursuing brand identity. The T-shirt uses a fabric blended with PlaXTM and cotton, in a relaxed fit design. This design, with PlaXTM placed on the skin side, provides antibacterial and deodorizing properties that suppress the growth of bacteria on the fibers, which are the source of odor. Furthermore, by adopting the air-spinning technology "MVS®" (Note 2), it features less fuzz, is resistant to pilling, and its texture is less likely to change due to washing or friction.

*1: "PlaXTM" is a new material developed by Bioworks Inc. by adding proprietary plant-derived additives, utilizing their molecular structuring technology, to "Polylactic Acid (PLA)," a biomass material derived from plants such as sugarcane, thereby enhancing its quality and functionality. The lactic acid contained in the material provides antibacterial and deodorizing properties that suppress the growth of odor-causing bacteria on the fibers. Furthermore, through proprietary technology, it addresses challenges such as durability, heat resistance, and dyeability that have hindered the widespread adoption of polylactic acid. It is expected to be used in various applications, including existing petroleum-derived synthetic fibers and plastic products, to address environmental issues and realize a sustainable circular economy. "PlaXTM" is a registered trademark of Bioworks Inc.

*2: "MVS®" is a registered trademark of Murata Machinery, Ltd.

Goldwin Shinsaibashi Spatial Concept

The concept is "accumulation of 'Chi'" where "Chi" (地), representing the strata formed by nature over long periods of exposure to wind, and "Chi" (知), representing the knowledge and expertise that Goldwin has pursued and cultivated over many years, are layered, and the "wind" that blows through it. This concept is also expressed in the space of the Shinsaibashi store.

Located on the second floor of a vibrant arcade, this store features a full glass facade facing the street. By installing horizontally flowing "split bamboo" as crossbars, we have created a gentle boundary that moderately blocks the hustle and bustle of the outside while inviting the presence of the wind inside.

In the sales floor, which is the core of the space, we have created a stone stage using "Ikuno Tamba stone." This is likened to a "stone altar" symbolizing the relationship between humans and nature, and it functions as a special place to express the "Twenty-four Solar Terms," representing the changing seasons. On the rough surface of the stone, which marks the passage of time, we have placed lanterns made of silk woven in Toyama Prefecture, Goldwin's place of origin. The soft light filtering through the silk resonates with the power of the natural stone, creating a deep shadow in the space and bringing a serene beauty.

"Paulownia" wood is used for the large counter table in the store and the fittings of the fitting rooms. The bamboo on the facade, which grows flexibly and strongly without breaking even when exposed to wind, and the auspicious paulownia, which grows into a large tree, are inspired by the auspicious pattern of paulownia, bamboo, and phoenix. By arranging the dense, beautiful grain of paulownia and finishing it with a tense detail that enhances its clean atmosphere, we express Goldwin's creed of "Dedication to Detail."

The expression of "Chi" (地) that time carves and Goldwin's constant pursuit of "Chi" (知) are woven together by the presence of "wind" that traverses the space. Through a spatial composition that harmonizes the depth of time told by the materials with the firm will embedded in the details, we aim to convey Goldwin's spirit, blow a new wind into the hearts of visitors, and express Goldwin's stance of continuous evolution with the times.
