New Future TV "ABEMA" will broadcast the final episode of its original marriage decision reality program "Sayonara Propose via Australia" from 9 PM on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
What is "Sayonara Propose via Australia"?
This program is a poignant and love-filled marriage decision reality show where couples who have been dating but are hesitant to marry must make a definitive decision – either "marriage" or "separation" – on the final day after a 7-day overseas trip. In recent years, as values regarding marriage have diversified, the show offers a glimpse into the real disagreements and true feelings of couples facing "marriage" or "separation," observing their growth and decisions.
In the latest installment, "Sayonara Propose via Australia," three couples, the most in the series, participate against the backdrop of Australia's magnificent nature and liberating atmosphere. The new season features Naoki, a 29-year-old boyfriend working for a foreign IT company who expects his partner to be independent, and Rino, a 28-year-old girlfriend who hopes to be a full-time housewife in the future; Kenshi, a 39-year-old boyfriend and company executive who lost his desire for marriage after two divorces, and Sachie, a 31-year-old girlfriend who can no longer trust him due to past actions; and Yuki, a 30-year-old boyfriend hesitant to marry, and Luna, a 29-year-old girlfriend who wishes to marry by age 30. Studio commentators include Sayaka Niiyama, Hikorohi, Miki Fujimoto, Dori Sakurada, and Yuuchami.
In the final episode, airing on May 7th (Thursday), the 7-day journey finally reaches its last day, depicting the three couples making their ultimate decision of "marriage" or "separation." On the morning of the decision, Kenshi, the 39-year-old boyfriend cautious about marriage after two divorces, and Sachie, the 31-year-old girlfriend, take a commemorative photo against the beautiful sunrise over the ocean, saying, "This will be our last photo as a couple." Reflecting on their seven years of dating and the intense memories of this trip, the two head to the decision location with their respective answers in their hearts.
Furthermore, Rino, who desires to be a full-time housewife in the future, and Naoki, who expects his partner to achieve self-realization through work, go on a helicopter sightseeing date as their last outing. To Rino, who says, "I want to do what I want to do to the extent that it doesn't become a burden," what will Naoki's answer be? The two had a big fight the day before the decision. What future will Naoki and Rino choose after continuously confronting their differing values?
And Luna, the 29-year-old girlfriend who wants to rush into marriage with the deadline for childbirth approaching, and Yuki, the 30-year-old boyfriend who has been postponing marriage due to a lack of confidence. Luna tearfully gives Yuki an ultimatum with strong resolve, saying, "I hate the status quo, so I want to be with Yuki and get married. But if I see even a little bit of you postponing it again, or putting it off even after marriage, then I think we should break up." What will be the outcome of their approximately four-year relationship, as told by Yuki after accepting Luna's harsh words born out of love?
The full story of the answer the three couples ultimately reached after a 7-day journey filled with worries, tears, and intense clashes will be revealed in the final episode of "Sayonara Propose via Australia," airing tonight, May 7th (Thursday), at 9 PM. Please look forward to it.
