Abekan Shuzo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shiogama City, Miyagi Prefecture; Representative Director: Masahiro Abe) is pleased to announce the renewal of its main brand to "Shiogama Abekan" and the launch of a new series called "Shio" (潮).

Concurrently, we have comprehensively reviewed everything from sake quality design to label design, reconstructing our brand concept as "sake that reflects the food culture of the port town of Shiogama."

The new "Shio" series will feature four products: "Ougonshio," "Tocho," "Gencho," and "Suicho."

Shiogama, a port town that has prospered with the sea since ancient times, boasts one of Japan's leading fresh tuna landing ports and a deeply rooted sushi culture. In this land, Abekan Shuzo has continued to brew sake.

Amidst increasing global attention on Japanese cuisine, this rebranding further deepens our pursuit of harmony with seafood, specifically as "sake from Shiogama, the city of sushi."

Shiogama's sushi culture values the freshness and distinctness of ingredients.

"Doing nothing for freshness."

We have cherished sake brewing that avoids excessive sweetness, strong aromas, or chasing trends.

Our goal is to create sake that allows people to naturally and comfortably enjoy fresh seafood continuously. With this aim, we have embraced the name "Shiogama" and reconstructed our brand.

Furthermore, this renewal not only includes labels and names but also a complete re-evaluation of the sake quality design itself.

To express harmony with seafood dishes at an even higher level, we have re-examined the koji ratio, fermentation design, and the concept of sake meter value, redesigning the individuality of each sake.

In terms of design, we have adopted a minimalist expression that utilizes empty space. For 720ml products, we use print bottles that evoke transparency, and English notation has been added to the front label.

The series name "Shio" represents the changing expressions of the sea throughout time and seasons.

Each sake has been designed to complement different dishes and occasions.

## Comment from Art Director Michiko Komai

"I felt that Shiogama's sushi culture has an aesthetic sense of 'doing nothing for freshness.' In this design, I expressed that sense of subtraction through empty space and transparency. We aimed for a sake that naturally blends in when placed alongside food and exists quietly."

## Comment from Masahiro Abe, Representative Director of Abekan Shuzo Co., Ltd.

"As a sake that is intertwined with Shiogama's seafood culture, we once again re-examined the core of our brand. We will continue to offer sake from this region that enhances dishes and naturally encourages another glass."
