AAR Japan (Association for Aid and Relief, Japan), which works to support refugees and persons with disabilities in 17 countries worldwide, has begun soliciting funds for projects in 7 Asian and African countries. We are collecting these as 'Marugoto Project Donations' (Whole Project Donations), where you can donate the funds for each project in a lump sum, such as providing wheelchairs for people with disabilities, sewing training, and support for the daily lives of refugees. All of these are projects for which local expatriate staff strongly appeal the necessity, saying, 'We want to protect the future of children' and 'We can change the lives of refugees.' Please feel free to contact us regarding the social issues of each country and the details of the projects.

Application period: April 2026 until funds are raised.

Donation amount: From 1 million yen per unit

Features:
1) Japanese expatriate staff will carefully report on the progress and results of the project.
2) Stickers or plates with your name will be attached to materials and training schools that are the deliverables of the project.

The overview of the projects in the 7 countries is as follows:

Cambodia: Wheelchairs to fulfill the social participation of people with disabilities (Donation amount: 1 million yen x 1 unit)
In Cambodia, there are many people who need wheelchairs, such as those with congenital disabilities or those whose legs have been disabled by polio. However, many of these people do not have wheelchairs that fit their bodies due to economic reasons. In this project, we will support the operation of a wheelchair workshop and provide wheelchairs to 70 people. Being able to move alone leads to social participation such as going to school and working.
[Use of donation] Workshop operation costs, wheelchair manufacturing costs, etc.

Tajikistan: Sewing training for women with disabilities (Donation amount: 1.2 million yen x 2 units)
In Tajikistan, women's advancement in society is delayed, and employment opportunities are limited. Furthermore, discrimination and prejudice against disabilities are deeply rooted, and people with disabilities and their families tend to be socially isolated. In this project, we will provide sewing training to 6 women with disabilities and women raising children with disabilities. By acquiring advanced sewing skills such as making shirts and blouses, we will expand employment opportunities and lead to economic independence and income improvement.
[Use of donation] (For one unit of 1.2 million yen) Sewing training operation costs, material costs for sewing tools, transportation expenses for students, etc.

Laos: Easy-to-use hand-cranked tricycles for everyone (Donation amount: 1.5 million yen x 1 unit)
In rural areas of Laos, public transportation is not equipped for people with disabilities, making it very difficult for them to go out. Limited mobility also restricts connections with schools and society, especially for vulnerable women and school-aged children. We will develop and manufacture improved hand-cranked tricycles that can be moved with light force even by women and children, and provide them to 41 people with lower limb disabilities.
[Use of donation] Development and manufacturing costs of improved hand-cranked tricycles, transportation costs, etc.

Turkey: Food and hygiene products for refugees living in harsh environments (Donation amount: 1.5 million yen x 1 unit)
Istanbul, Turkey's largest city, is home to many refugees who have fled conflicts from neighboring countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, and Iran. Combined with the language barrier and lack of public services, many people find it difficult to even maintain their daily lives. We will distribute food and hygiene products (e.g., shampoo, sanitary products, detergent) to 200 people placed in vulnerable positions to help them live their daily lives safely and comfortably.
[Use of donation] Purchase costs of food and hygiene products, transportation costs for distribution, etc.

Zambia: Repairing depleted wells in refugee settlements (Donation amount: 3 million yen x 1 unit)
*We have stopped accepting applications for this project as the donation has been decided.
In the Meheba refugee settlement, where refugees and former refugees from neighboring countries live, water demand is increasing due to population growth, while wells are drying up due to decreased rainfall, making water shortage an urgent issue. Children responsible for fetching water are forced to walk long distances and sometimes miss classes. Clinics that cannot secure clean water are experiencing difficulties in providing treatment. We will repair about 25 depleted wells to deliver safe water to the people once again.
[Use of donation] Well repair costs (drilling, construction, etc.), material transportation costs, etc.

Bangladesh: Protecting women and children from crime and violence (Donation amount: 5 million yen x 1 unit)
Over 600,000 people who fled Myanmar are living here.
