AA Health Dynamics Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Kenta Hara; hereinafter "AAHD") has announced that it will receive equity investment (hereinafter "this investment") and anonymous partnership investment from the Ritsumeikan Social Impact Fund Investment Limited Partnership (Unlimited Partner: Plus Social Investment Inc., Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Masato Noike; hereinafter "RSIF").

Starting in fiscal year 2026, AAHD plans to form the "Africa Medical Equity Fund Anonymous Partnership" as an anonymous partnership business and launch its medical finance business. The equity investment is positioned to build a medium- to long-term growth foundation through strengthening capital ties, while the anonymous partnership investment will support the expansion of the medical finance business, aiming to maximize AAHD's business value and social impact.

■ Background and Challenges

In many parts of Africa, obtaining and maintaining medical equipment is difficult, leading to a severe dual challenge: "there are skilled medical personnel but no equipment" or "there is equipment but no skills to operate or maintain it." This creates significant healthcare disparities. This fund was established to solve this structural problem.

■ AA Health Dynamics Inc.'s Past Initiatives

AAHD has been working to improve the quality of healthcare in Africa, primarily in Kenya, by developing training programs for healthcare professionals. They provide practical training and technical support to help local medical staff acquire appropriate skills and maximize the use of limited resources. The formation of this fund builds upon this on-site knowledge and trust, expanding the business to solve the new challenge of access to medical equipment finance.

■ The Social Impact We Aim for at AAHD

The social impact we aim for is to transform healthcare in developing countries from being "objects of aid" to "subjects that generate their own development." The ultimate vision for this is to build an educational ecosystem that continuously nurtures world-class medical professionals locally, by establishing a mechanism like a university specialized in medical and healthcare.

When establishing AAHD, I keenly felt the reality that "social issues cannot be solved by aid alone" through experiences such as the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers. In African healthcare settings, chronic personnel shortages, limited educational opportunities, and difficulty accessing expensive equipment and funding endanger people's lives. Furthermore, while involved in research support as a URA at Ritsumeikan University, I faced another challenge: despite the accumulation of world-class medical technologies, techniques, and knowledge in Japanese universities and research institutions, there was no mechanism to deliver them to healthcare sites in developing countries with scarce medical resources.

These two realities are the origin of our approach.

Education alone cannot deliver healthcare if equipment cannot be purchased, even if people are trained. Finance alone is meaningless if equipment is available but there are no personnel who can use it effectively. That is why we integrate medical education and finance to create a synergistic effect where human resource development and medical infrastructure improvement reinforce each other. By transferring medical techniques and specialized knowledge from Japanese universities and research institutions to local areas, we enhance the capabilities of healthcare professionals, and simultaneously support access to medical equipment through finance, creating a cycle of learning and practice on the ground.

By making this mechanism a sustainable business, we achieve both social problem solving and profitability, ultimately scaling it into a "hub for producing human resources" in the form of a medical and healthcare university. Initially, we will focus on providing finance for medical imaging equipment, while also acting as a bridge between Japan and international companies, working together to build a locally rooted medical ecosystem.

■ Fund Objectives and Mechanism

This fund aims to effectively utilize medical personnel in Africa and supports the following businesses:

① Expanding access to equipment through installment sales of medical equipment (providing finance for equipment purchase)

② Continuous support for local implementers regarding the introduction and utilization of medical equipment

③ Follow-up through training programs for medical staff after equipment introduction

I am honored to receive this investment from RSIF.
