Eightknot Inc. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; Representative Director: Hiroto Kimura), a developer of maritime intelligent technology, is pleased to announce that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a business alliance with CitySage Sdn Bhd (hereinafter "CitySage"), a Malaysian startup.
The signing of this MOU took place at the "Malaysia-Japan Industry Networking Night," an event organized by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC), with the aim of promoting collaborative partnerships between Malaysian startups and Japanese companies.
CitySage is a startup that supports decision-making in Malaysia through AI urban intelligence, integrating climate risk, infrastructure, and socioeconomic data. Eightknot and CitySage were both selected for Mitsubishi Corporation's challenge statement at the "Malaysia-Japan Fast Track Pitch 2025" held in February (*), which served as an opportunity to repeatedly discuss collaboration.
Based on this MOU, both companies will begin discussions for CitySage to cooperate in providing data and AI-powered solutions for Eightknot's business development utilizing autonomous navigation systems in Malaysia. Moving forward, they plan to jointly advance proof-of-concept in major Malaysian waters where an increase in water traffic is expected, including the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
Eightknot will steadily promote demonstrations in Malaysia in collaboration with strong local partners, CitySage and Mitsubishi Corporation, and aims to expand its business in Asia, with an eye toward horizontal expansion into other Southeast Asian countries facing similar challenges.
