Fourseeds Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture; Representative Director: Kenichiro Toyosato) announced that the "Shinryo Fund" (Shinryo 1号 Investment Business Limited Partnership), which primarily invests in and supports seed-stage startups, has made an investment in HerLifeLab Inc. (Headquarters: Onna Village, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture; Representatives: Olga Eliseeva and Kyoko Otsuka; hereinafter "HerLifeLab"), a company developing services to support women suffering from menopausal symptoms.

◼︎ Background of the Investment

HerLifeLab is a startup that supports women suffering from menopausal symptoms. The company aims to build new infrastructure for a society where working women can "continue working long and fulfilling lives in their own way" by datafying the expertise of its CEO, a medical doctor, and co-founder Dr. Takamiyagi, a gynecologist. In 2021, the company was selected for an accelerator program run by OIST (Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University).

Menopausal treatment is considered a burdensome area for doctors and hospitals due to limitations in medical fee reimbursement and the relatively long consultation times required. The Shinryo Fund believes that precisely because this is a challenging field, the emergence of a company from Okinawa to solve this problem holds immense significance. The fund decided to invest with the aim of creating "momentum" that will attract further investors and business partners, and to help grow the healthcare industry into one of Okinawa's key sectors.

Going forward, the Shinryo Fund will support HerLifeLab's business expansion into Asia and its integration with "Okinawa Tourism."

◼︎ Comments from Representatives

Olga Eliseeva, CEO, and Kyoko Otsuka, COO, HerLifeLab Inc.

"We are deeply honored to receive this investment from the Shinryo Fund.

We founded HerLifeLab in Okinawa based on a strong awareness that women's health issues, particularly menopause, have not been adequately addressed in Japanese healthcare.

Starting from the world-class research environment of OIST, we aim to combine medicine, technology, and business to build a women's healthcare infrastructure that reaches from Okinawa to Japan and then to Asia.

Menopausal treatment lacks societal understanding, and its difficulty as a business is not low. That is precisely why having the Shinryo Fund, which is rooted in Okinawa and nurtures startups and industries from a long-term perspective, join us is immensely significant. The spirit of 'Bankoku Shinryo' (a bridge to all nations) that Representative Toyosato and his team uphold deeply aligns with our vision for Asian expansion.

Moving forward, we will leverage the Shinryo Fund's network within Okinawa Prefecture and across Asia, including Taiwan, as well as collaborations with Okinawan businesses and the tourism industry, to cultivate women's healthcare as a next-generation industry originating from Okinawa."

Kenichiro Toyosato, Managing Partner, Shinryo Fund

"Initially, as a man, I had little knowledge about the topic of 'menopause.' However, upon hearing from the two founders, I learned the reality that so many women are suffering in silence, incurring significant economic losses. I became convinced that it is extremely important for a company from Okinawa to solve this problem. Going forward, the Shinryo Fund will support HerLifeLab's expansion into Asia, starting with Taiwan where we have a strong network, and foster collaborations with Okinawan businesses."
