FOURDIGIT Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Ryo Taguchi) has released a short film for "MOM FoR STAR," an employment project in the digital design field aimed at single mothers in Okinawa.

Started in April 2021, MOM FoR STAR entered its 6th year this April. Going beyond mere "employment support," it aims to expand the circle of the community as an ongoing project.

Additionally, to establish this activity not as temporary support but as a "social system," we announce the start of accepting donations for an endowment-type fund aimed at sustainable management.

■ Background of the Short Film Production

Okinawa Prefecture has long-standing structural issues, such as a "child poverty rate" and "ratio of single-parent households" that exceed the national average. A particular challenge single mothers face is that these issues are chained across generations.

To break this status quo, MOM FoR STAR, launched in April 2021, has been providing employment support through the acquisition of IT and creative skills. What we have seen over the past 5 years is the definitive change where the sight of mothers working with newly acquired skills (their backs as they take on challenges) nurtures hope for the future in their children. This film was produced to widely share the realistic hope we have witnessed on the ground.

Starring talented actor Takara Sakumoto, the film portrays the "resilience" of the mothers involved in MOM FoR STAR and the realistic way their challenges connect hope to their families and the next generation, from the perspective of a young man. Through MOM FoR STAR, it is a story of him learning to face his own work and becoming able to express his previously unspoken gratitude to his mother.

■ Building a Sustainable "Fund"

To ensure the results of the past 5 years do not end as a transient project but become rooted as a "system" in the local community, we are introducing a fund management model as a new endowment-type fund. By pooling the donated funds as principal and using the investment returns to cover activity expenses, we aim for a system that continues long-term support without depleting the fund itself.

[Overview of Donation Call]
We sincerely ask for the support of individuals and corporations who agree with the purpose of our activities.

Purpose: To cover the operating expenses of MOM FoR STAR and to allocate to the fund.

Methods of Donation (multiple planned):
- Donation through a public interest incorporated foundation with tax incentives
- Direct donation to the General Incorporated Association Every Star Story
- Loan-type donation to the fund

Benefits: We will list the names of individuals and companies who donate on our website and in video credits in the future.

■ What is MOM FoR STAR

MOM FoR STAR is an employment and collaborative project in the digital design field for single mothers in Okinawa, consisting of three activities: "Learn," "Work," and "Connect." It is a collaborative effort between FOURDIGIT Inc. in Tokyo, Umusan Lab Co., Ltd. in Okinawa, and Single Mothers Forum Okinawa, a support organization in Okinawa.

Started in 2021, it has won awards such as the Good Design Award 2021, Work Story Award 2021, and WORK DESIGN AWARD 2023.

It is a program where participants learn skills from scratch in one year and work while learning, with support to perform digital design jobs together. By supporting the skill-up and career-up of single mothers, it aims to realize an environment where they can achieve economic stability, mutual help, and work with a sense of purpose.
