TOM JAPAN to Hold Co-Creation Design Workshop 'Mirai no Shikake Lab' at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026

TOM JAPAN, operating at '100BANCH'—a futuristic innovation hub dedicated to creating new value with the younger generation—will co-host a co-creation design workshop titled 'Mirai no Shikake Lab: Solving Troubles with Excitement!' using the IoT tool MESH. The event will take place during the SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026 Public Day in collaboration with Arc & Beyond.

In this workshop, participants will learn the essence of co-creation where 'everyone can participate in value creation' by experiencing the process from idea generation to prototyping, starting from the daily struggles of 'Need-Knowers' (people with disabilities).

### Event Overview: An Open Experience of Co-Creation Starting from Someone's Struggles This workshop is a hands-on program where participants hint from someone's daily troubles to think of and actually shape 'Shikake' (mechanisms) that make future life more exciting. By combining everyday objects with the intuitive IoT tool 'MESH,' participants will create prototypes on the spot. Through the process of making, testing, and sharing, one can experience the birth of new value.

By combining the 'Need-Knower centered co-creation design' practiced by TOM JAPAN with Arc & Beyond's perspective of open making using technology, we offer a practical experience that goes beyond mere ideas.

Traditionally, co-creation design has often been conducted by experts or highly interested groups. In this workshop, at the open venue of SusHi Tech Tokyo, we have designed it so that a diverse range of people, including casual visitors, can easily participate. We aim to expand co-creation from 'an activity for a few' to 'an act many can engage in.'

### Purpose and Objectives The purpose of this workshop is to face social issues while collaborating with people from different backgrounds and expertise, starting from the value held by the Need-Knower's perspective.

Participants aim to lower the psychological hurdle to making using technology and gain a sense of 'I can do it too' through the experience from ideation to prototyping.

Through such experiences, we hope to foster thinking skills from problem discovery to solution, understanding others' perspectives, and the awareness to act independently, serving as a trigger to take a step toward building the future society.

### Program Content The workshop will follow these steps: 1. Experience the IoT tool 'MESH' 2. Think of ideas for issues and solutions based on a Need-Knower's life story 3. Create a prototype using MESH 4. Present and share the created prototype *Need-Knower refers to the person directly involved who 'knows' the 'need' most deeply.
