100BANCH Selects Two Projects for GARAGE Program: Contemporary Circus to Experience History and Science Awareness Devices from Origami

Under the concept of 'An experimental zone to enrich the world 100 years from now,' 100BANCH, a future creation hub that collaborates with the younger generation to create new value, has decided on the 105th cohort of its acceleration program 'GARAGE Program.' Two projects will be admitted in April 2026.

The GARAGE Program is an acceleration program that promotes projects and social experiments by young leaders who will shape the next 100 years. It provides young people under 35 who pursue the future with a place to work and support from mentors. Selected projects will utilize this program for three months to pursue their respective experiments for the future. Details of the 105th cohort projects are as follows:

Igniting 'Awareness' with Devices Born from the Mathematics Hidden in Origami and Crafts!

This project aims to create the first step towards opening up life through 'awareness.'

Origami and crafts are familiar, yet the science behind them is not widely known. Therefore, we will create devices that link parameters to sensory quantities such as sound and light, based on the geometric phenomena that appear in shapes. Through the exhibition of these devices, we aim to create opportunities for many people to naturally encounter and explore, leading them to notice the underlying phenomena out of curiosity. We believe this will allow anyone, regardless of their interest in science, to experience the excitement of a scientific perspective. We hope this awareness will spread into daily life, creating a chain reaction of changes in how people see things.

City Stories Circus

Transforming Stories Sleeping in the City into Excitement with Contemporary Circus!

This project expresses 100 years of Shibuya's culture through contemporary circus.

We will express Shibuya's '杂多さ' (zattasa - miscellaneousness/complexity) through acrobatics and juggling, and develop short performances that pay homage to fairy tales. By incorporating Shibuya's hidden history and culture into the production, we will create a non-verbal, immersive contemporary circus show that transforms the 'viewing space' into a 'story-experiencing space.'

Applications for the GARAGE Program are accepted on a rolling basis. The application deadline for the 107th cohort, starting in June, is April 27th.

Under the concept of 'An experimental zone to enrich the world 100 years from now,' 100BANCH is a complex facility that engages in the creation of new value with the younger generation who will lead the future. Established on July 7, 2017, by Panasonic on the occasion of its 100th anniversary, with the belief that 'gatherings of young energy unbound by convention will enrich the future 100 years from now.'

Since then, it has supported the first steps of ambitious young people in creating the future by providing a 'place' where experiments can be conducted 24/7, advice from top experts in various fields, and 'opportunities' for dissemination through over 100 events and large exhibitions annually.
