■ Program Overview

The "Sendai Global Startup Campus (SGSC)" is a world-class entrepreneurship program for students and young people in Tohoku interested in starting a business or joining a startup, under the theme "Challenge while you're young, with a global perspective." In its 4th iteration this year, 100 selected participants will gradually cultivate a global entrepreneurial spirit through three stages. Top selected teams will be dispatched to Silicon Valley to experience global business through interaction and pitching with local entrepreneurs, VCs, and prominent companies.

■ Application Guidelines

Application period: April 24, 2026 (Friday) 10:00 AM - May 22, 2026 (Friday) 11:59 PM JST

Eligibility: Individuals aged 16 or older residing in or from the six prefectures of Tohoku *1.

Capacity: Approximately 100 people (document screening will be conducted if the number of applicants exceeds the capacity).

Participation fee: Free *3 (Stage 3 selected participants are expected to pay 30,000 yen).

*1) Refers to those currently residing in the six Tohoku prefectures, or those who have previously resided in the six Tohoku prefectures for approximately 4 years or more and have ties to Tohoku, even if not currently residing there.

*2) Students such as university, graduate school, high school, and technical college students, as well as young professionals in their 20s, are welcome to participate. High school students who will turn 16 within the current academic year are included. For those living in areas where day trips are difficult and participating in Stage 1 or Stage 2, the secretariat will arrange free accommodation for those who wish (we may not be able to accommodate your request depending on your residential area).

*3) A participation fee of 30,000 yen is planned for those selected for Stage 3.

Program Schedule (Planned)

【Stage 1】

01|Kick-off

Participants will deepen their understanding of this year's SGSC and startups, and receive lectures on the significance of engaging in startups and global activities from experts working at the forefront of the startup scene. After the kick-off event, there will be a networking session with current SGSC participants and past alumni.

Date: June 6, 2026 (Saturday) 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Location: Central Sendai

02|Boot Camp

A total of 4-day intensive program led by an overseas partner who develops entrepreneurship education in various countries based in Silicon Valley. A lecturer who serves as a fellow at UC Berkeley SCET will visit Sendai to teach the process of launching business ideas from major societal changes and the mindset necessary for startups, through practical group work.

Date: June 13 (Saturday), 14 (Sunday), 20 (Saturday), 21 (Sunday), 2026, 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM each day

Location: Central Sendai

03|Basic Skills Improvement Program (Optional)

An optional program for those new to startups. It includes basic understanding of startups, an "IKIGAI Workshop" to help find what you want to do, and follow-up explanations for the Boot Camp.

【Stage 2】

01|Team Formation Period

This period is for forming teams for the entrepreneurship program and the mid-term achievement report meeting. Individuals with ideas and those who want to support those ideas will gather to form teams of 4 members to refine their business plans.

Period: July 2026

02|Entrepreneurship Program

A lecture and mentoring program aimed at seriously pursuing the commercialization of ideas. In addition to basic learning for business creation, business validation will be conducted through interviews and research. Instructors and mentors active at the forefront will strongly support each team from business plan development to pitching (presentation).

Date: 4 times during August 2026

Location: Central Sendai

03|Mid-term Achievement Report Meeting

A mid-term report meeting where each team will give a pitch. This also serves as a selection process for Stage 3, where teams will be evaluated primarily on their business viability, and superior teams will be selected.
