Tsuji & Hongo IT Consulting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Ken Kuronita; hereinafter 'ITC') has launched the 'AI Utilization Project (TH-AI),' a group-wide business transformation project including Tsuji & Hongo Tax Accountants (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Saeko Kuwaki; hereinafter 'TH').
Through this project, ITC will build a next-generation business infrastructure centered on generative AI, promoting the efficiency and quality improvement of tax accounting operations.
■ Project Overview
The accounting and tax industry faces severe labor shortages while demanding high levels of specialized knowledge and accuracy. The following points have been major obstacles to business reform:
・Centralization and black-boxing of knowledge:
Concentration of specialized knowledge in specific personnel.
・Burden of incidental tasks:
Business hours pressured by incidental tasks such as creating meeting minutes, transcribing documents, and organizing information.
・Technical challenges in AI utilization:
Challenges when utilizing generative AI, such as reading complex paper documents and information inaccuracy (hallucination).
ITC, in collaboration with TH, launched this project to solve these challenges, aiming to build an integrated AI platform that balances on-site business improvement with overall company optimization. By matching on-site needs with the latest generative AI technology, the project will verify the following business improvement effects:
・Efficiency through automation:
Automate routine document creation and information organization with AI, reducing staff workload.
・Improved quality of declaration tasks:
Utilize AI for declaration-related tasks that require expertise and accuracy, suppressing variability in knowledge and judgment, and building an environment where necessary information can be utilized efficiently and effectively.
・Elimination of 'black boxes' through data analysis platform construction:
Develop a platform to accumulate and analyze daily business flows as data. AI automatically extracts bottlenecks, accelerating continuous business improvement (PDCA).
■ Future Outlook
The 'Next-generation accounting firm model where AI and experts coexist' resulting from this project is considered to have social significance beyond the Tsuji & Hongo Group from the following perspectives:
・Improvement of productivity and customer value across the entire tax and accounting industry:
By integrating the knowledge cultivated as the industry leader with AI, 'manual work' deeply rooted in the tax and accounting industry will be transformed into 'value as an expert.' By having AI handle routine tasks, professionals can maximize their time to act as 'management partners,' realizing an improvement in the value provided by accounting firms.
・Transformation of management and back-office operations for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs):
Deploy Tsuji & Hongo's specialized knowledge and business flow 'models' to support the back offices of SMEs facing resource shortages. This will promote advanced management visualization and quick decision-making, supporting the autonomous growth of SMEs, which are the backbone of the Japanese economy, from the back office.
ITC aims to support the business transformation of the Tsuji & Hongo Group and establish an advanced model for generative AI utilization in the tax and accounting industry by implementing and solidifying the knowledge gained through this project.
