"SUPER LUXURY SERIES" New Shibuya Residence Exterior Photo

Press Preview Event to be Held on July 9

Moroto-ie Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture; Tokyo First Office: Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Koji Matsumoto, hereinafter Moroto-ie) will hold a press preview event on July 9, 2026, for its new residence in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, part of the "SUPER LUXURY SERIES."

This residence is the latest project developed under the philosophy of the "SUPER LUXURY SERIES," which is "Beauty that Endures Over Time." Designed holistically with architecture, materials, furnishings, and spatial composition centered around a spacious LDK of approximately 44.7 tatami mats and a living space with a maximum ceiling height of approximately 5.1 meters, the aim is to create a residence whose value deepens with time.

This preview event is not intended for public viewing but is held for members of the press to experience and cover the value and spatial design proposed by the "SUPER LUXURY SERIES" through the completed architecture.

The Japanese Housing Market and the Background of the "SUPER LUXURY SERIES"

In the Japanese housing market, there is a tendency to evaluate land and buildings separately, with buildings often seen as losing value over time. The common perception is that a building's value significantly decreases after about 30 years, and housing has developed within a "scrap and build" framework, assuming eventual replacement.

In contrast, Western countries have a concept of viewing residences as assets (estates) to be passed down through generations. This perspective positions architecture not merely as a living space but as a vessel for inheriting family history and culture.

Since its founding in 1975, Moroto-ie has supplied over 5,000 homes in the luxury housing market. Through this accumulated experience, the company has arrived at the philosophy that "a home is not something to be consumed in one generation, but an entity to be passed down through generations."

The "SUPER LUXURY SERIES" by Moroto-ie gives form to this philosophy. In this series, the company analyzes the history and environment nurtured by the land to plan architecture befitting that location. Furthermore, by incorporating materials that gain character with age and craftsmanship by master artisans, they are dedicated to creating residences that can be lived in and passed down for a long time.

The Residences Proposed by the "SUPER LUXURY SERIES"

A true residence does not simply mean a luxurious home.

Moroto-ie believes that a residence should not be built for just one generation, but should be a vessel that condenses the lives and histories of multiple generations into a single structure.

Built by the grandfather, maintained by the father, inherited by the child. As time passes, family memories accumulate, and the residence itself becomes the history of the lineage. This is why residences remain special entities for wealthy individuals in Western countries.

Viewing a home not as a consumable item but as an asset and culture to be passed down through generations creates true luxury.

Therefore, the "SUPER LUXURY SERIES" does not chase fleeting trends or temporary value. It pursues architecture that will be perceived as beautiful 100 years from now, structures that will function 100 years from now, and materials and furnishings that will be proudly inherited 100 years from now.

Moroto-ie does not just build luxury homes. They build residences for passing down family history to the future. It's about leaving behind culture, not just assets. That is the philosophy of the "SUPER LUXURY SERIES."

A Residence Expressing "Beauty That Endures Over Time" Throughout Its Space

In the residence completed this time, the philosophy of "Beauty That Endures Over Time," advocated by the "SUPER LUXURY SERIES," is expressed throughout the entire space, including light, materials, and open areas.

The central LDK, approximately 44.7 tatami mats in size, features a void space with a maximum ceiling height of approximately 5.1 meters, employing a spatial design that utilizes the play of light, shadows, and the inherent texture of materials. By carefully designing sightlines and open spaces, a living environment is realized where a tranquil atmosphere flows despite its urban location.

A characteristic feature is the spatial composition that transitions the consciousness from the hustle and bustle of the city to tranquility as one moves from the entrance into the interior. Special plasterwork creations are incorporated into parts of the architectural space, integrating architectural, material, and artisan techniques into a harmonious spatial expression.

Furthermore, it is equipped with functions required for an urban residence, such as a large wine cellar, a home elevator, a built-in garage for two cars, and a roof balcony.

Senior Producer's Comment

"In this residence, I focused on carefully incorporating each element of the architecture with the philosophy of the 'SUPER LUXURY SERIES.'

Rather than creating an impression of luxury, we aimed for a living space where residents can develop a deep attachment over many years and continue to feel its value over time by layering light, open space, and material textures.

The spatial composition that shifts consciousness from the city's noise to tranquility, and the materials and furnishings that harmonize with the architecture, are all embodiments of the 'SUPER LUXURY SERIES' philosophy. We hope you will experience this space firsthand at the preview event."
