'Mamoru Hosoda's Origin / Exhibition': Showcasing Works Before 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time' and an Experiential Area for 'Summer Wars' OZ

From June 20, 2026 (Sat) to August 31 (Mon), CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO (Kyobashi, Tokyo) will host the 'Mamoru Hosoda's Origin / Exhibition'. We are offering an advance look at the exhibition highlights and some of the original limited-edition merchandise.

■ Approaching the 'Origin' Before 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time'!
Tracing the creative trajectory of Director Mamoru Hosoda, from his student works to his masterpieces.

In addition to masterpieces like 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time', 'Summer Wars', and 'Wolf Children', this exhibition showcases works from his time as a director before 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time', independent animation works made on 8mm film during his junior high school days, live-action video works, and oil paintings from his time at Kanazawa College of Art. The exhibition unravels the origin of Director Mamoru Hosoda's creation along with a wide variety of production materials.

Taking advantage of the large 5-meter-high ceiling space, the venue features an exhibition where visitors can experience the worldview of the virtual internet world 'OZ' from 'Summer Wars'. Life-size figures of 'King Kazuma' and 'Love Machine' will also appear.

Furthermore, over 300 production materials, including storyboards, layouts, director's corrections, key animation frames, art boards, and character setting materials, will be on display. Please enjoy the exhibition space unique to this event, which is the largest of its kind in history.

More than 100 original items unique to this exhibition are planned, allowing visitors to take home the creative world of Director Mamoru Hosoda and the charm of each work conveyed through the exhibition.
