A 400-year-old 'path of faith'. In the Edo period, it was a pilgrimage route where people who believed in and revered Mount Fuji as a sacred mountain ascended, starting from Nihonbashi, passing through the Koshu Kaido, and branching off in Otsuki to aim for the summit of Mount Fuji. It is an ancient road with a history of many people ascending, said to have as many as '808 lectures in Edo's 808 towns'. In the town of Fujiyoshida at the foot of the mountain, many 'Oshi no Ie' (houses of the Oshi, or mountain guides) stand in a row where ascenders perform misogi (ritual purification). It is not just a mountain path, but a 'pilgrimage mechanism' itself for exorcism and regeneration, and to bring the spiritual efficacy of Fuji back to Edo.

About Sasaichi Brewery

Sasaichi Brewery 'Looking up at Fuji, inheriting the water'

'Looking up at Fuji, inheriting the water'

In Otsuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, where the town of Oiwake flourished as the starting point for pilgrimages aiming for the sacred peak of Fuji, Sasaichi Brewery Co., Ltd. has had a brewery here for over 360 years. The company was founded in 1661 (the first year of the Kanbun era) as Hanadaya. Later, Taneo Amano, who inherited Hanadaya and became the first brewery owner, renamed and integrated it into the current Sasaichi Brewery in 1919, and since then, the company has been brewing sake together with the faith of Fuji.

'Sasaichi' is a name that combines the character 'Sasa' meaning Japanese sake and the character 'Ichii' representing Mount Fuji, Japan's highest peak. By surrounding this character with the design of the Yatagarasu mirror, which symbolizes the faith of Mount Fuji, used in the company emblem, it expresses the spirit of Sasaichi Brewery where sake brewing and faith are united.

Sasaichi Brewery has been offering sacred sake to Kitaguchi Hongu Fujisengen Shrine, a place of Fuji faith. On the occasion of the registration of 'Japanese Traditional Sake Brewing' as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, the company held the 'Hokoku Festival' at the same shrine and has been supporting local religious events as sacred sake.

Kitaguchi Hongu Fujisengen Shrine is known as a key point of the 'Fuji Michi', which many pilgrims from the Edo period necessarily visited when passing through the north entrance climbing route of Mount Fuji, starting from Otsuki.

Since its founding, Sasaichi Brewery has continued to brew sake using the clear water of Mount Fuji Gosaka, which wells up from the brewery, and the climate of Yamanashi Prefecture. Turning the blessings of this land into good sake and sharing it with the local people. This has been the unchanging wish of Sasaichi Brewery.

Among them, the luxury Japanese sake brand 'Fuji Clear Stream Tenshu' 'Dan' won the Platinum Excellent Award at the world-famous Japanese sake competition 'Kura Master 2025' for 'Dan Yamahai Junmai Daiginjo Banshu Aiyama', and in 2025, 'Dan Junmai Daiginjo' was officially adopted by ANA's international first-class flights, among others, and is highly evaluated worldwide.
