[Summer High School Residential Program] Global Leadership Camp 'BEGIN' Now Open for Registration

Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Beppu City, Oita Prefecture; President: Yoneyama Hiroshi; APU) will hold its exclusive residential experience program for high school students, 'THE LAST BEGIN: The Final Blue, The First Self,' over four days from August 19 (Wed) to 22 (Sat), 2026. Registration is now open.

What is Basic Education Growing Infinity Nexus (BEGIN)?
In this program, APU faculty and experienced students serve as facilitators to support high school participants in developing the skills and attitudes necessary to thrive in a global society. Through discussions and presentations, participants foster the ability to understand and embrace diverse values while building the perseverance to achieve their goals. Held annually since 2018 and praised for imparting effective critical thinking skills, this will be the final iteration of the program.

Application Guidelines
Dates: August 19 (Wed) – August 22 (Sat), 2026 (4 days)
Fee: 53,000 yen (Includes accommodation, breakfast, and dinner; transportation costs are not included.)
Registration Period: May 15, 2026 (Fri) – June 21, 2026 (Sun)
Venue: Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (1-1 Jumonjibaru, Beppu City, Oita 874-8577)
Accommodation: International Education Dormitory 'AP House'
Language: Japanese
Capacity: 54 participants (If the number of applicants exceeds capacity, a selection process will be held based on applications; all applicants will be notified by June 30 (Tue).)
Eligibility: High school students or those of equivalent age (including graduates) considering university education.
Requirements: Must be able to attend all days.

- Discussion Skills: Ability to facilitate smooth discussions with participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Communication Skills: Ability to express thoughts clearly and empathize with others.
- Understanding Diversity: Ability to embrace and respect diverse values and viewpoints.
- Problem Discovery and Resolution: Ability to observe surroundings consciously in group work, identify problems, investigate causes, and work toward solutions.
