"Akita Kanto Festival," a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, has a history dating back to the Horeki era as a Neburi-nagashi event to ward off summer illnesses and evil spirits. Enjoy the various skillful performances and the sound of festival music as participants sway lanterns and manipulate Kanto poles, resembling rice ears, weighing up to 50 kg.
