Akigawa Valley Hydrangea Festival 2026: A Miraculous Flower Scenery in Early Summer Tokyo

*Hydrangea Mountain One: Minamisawa Hydrangea Mountain, a Hydrangea Paradise where 50 Years of Feelings Bloom

This is a mountain where Mr. Chuichi Minamisawa, who lived in this area, continued to plant hydrangeas to "fill the path to his parents' grave with hydrangeas." Wishing to see everyone's happy faces, he continued planting hydrangeas for 50 years, and now the number of hydrangeas blooming on the mountain exceeds 15,000.

There are over 50 varieties of hydrangeas, including rare species that are seldom seen elsewhere in Japan. Surrounded by tall trees, colorful hydrangeas in blue, purple, and white bloom profusely for about a month from June, creating a fantastic atmosphere.

*Hydrangea Mountain Two: Wonderful Nature Village Hydrangea Mountain, where pure white Annabelles captivate visitors

This hydrangea mountain is located within Wonderful Nature Village, adjacent to Tokyo Summerland. In the hydrangea area of approximately 30,000 square meters, you can enjoy the collaboration of about 60 varieties and 15,000 hydrangeas, including "Annabelle's Snow Mountain," where pure white Annabelle hydrangeas grow in clusters.

At the entrance of the hydrangea area, white and pink Annabelles blooming at the foot of the mountain gently welcome visitors. Proceeding along the hiking course surrounded by colorful hydrangeas, "Annabelle's Snow Mountain," which dyes the entire slope pure white, spreads before your eyes. Furthermore, from the summit, a spectacular view of the magnificent Okutama mountain range and the clear stream of Akigawa spreads out.

A special day in early summer Akigawa Valley, touring two hydrangea mountains with local staff guidance. Staff who manage the mountains will share stories that can only be heard here, such as the secrets behind pruning and maintenance to make the flowers bloom beautifully. Additionally, this tour-limited workshop "Hydrangea Hana Temari Making" can be experienced, offering a deeper appreciation for hydrangeas.
