The Social Welfare Corporation Takasago Fukushikai will hold the '3rd TaKaSaGo International Festival' on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Koto City Toyosu Cultural Center.

This event will feature Japanese dance, children's performances, introductions to global greetings and cultures, and a mini-concert by teachers. It is an international exchange event where families can experience world cultures, sing, dance, and have fun together.

The event is free, with no reservation required, and open entry and exit. Gifts for visitors will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Families with preschool children, local residents, and anyone else are welcome to attend casually. The venue is the Koto City Toyosu Cultural Center (Toyosu Civic Center, 5th floor), just a short walk from Toyosu Station. Even with small children, you can drop by at any time.

Photo of the bustling previous event: Scenes from the 2nd edition. 89 families participated, and it grew as a place for multicultural exchange, with parents from various countries introducing their homelands.

The 2nd edition saw 89 families participate, and five countries were featured in the homeland introductions. This year, we aim to create an event open to the community, enjoyable for everyone, including current families, local residents, families with preschool children, and those interested in education.

A Day for Families to Experience 'World Cultures'

'We want our children to experience world cultures,' 'We want to go to an event the whole family can enjoy,' 'We're looking for a place where even preschool children can participate.' This day is perfect for such families. Sing, dance, and experience the cultures of various countries. The event is filled with the hope that through such experiences, children will feel the world is a little closer.

Introduction of Educational Symposium Speakers: Experts in early childhood education, international understanding, Japanese language education, and physical education will discuss the theme 'What Skills Do Children of the Future Need?'

An Educational Symposium on 'What Skills Do Children of the Future Need?' will also be held in the morning.

Part 1 will be an educational symposium. The theme is 'What Skills Do Children of the Future Need?' Experts in early childhood education, international understanding, Japanese language education, and physical education will discuss the skills necessary for future children based on their own practices and experiences. It's a day that goes beyond just 'going out to play,' offering a chance to pause and think about children's development and the future of education.

The event will feature Japanese dance, children's performances, international exchange, and a mini-concert.

The children's performances will showcase expressions cultivated through their daily activities. The international exchange program will introduce global greetings and cultures in a fun way. In the afternoon, teachers will hold a 'Mini-Concert Connecting the World.'

'No Reservation Required, Open Entry and Exit' – Enjoy even for a short time.

No prior reservation is needed, and entry and exit are free. 'I want to attend only in the morning,' 'I want to drop by for a short time while watching my child,' 'I want to go for the afternoon mini-concert.' Such participation styles are also very welcome. Even with small children, you can spend time comfortably, and the venue is right near Toyosu Station. Local residents and families, please feel free to come.

A Story Manga Conveying the Event's Background is Also Available

The Takasago Fukushikai nursery schools have families with roots in diverse countries, including the USA, Canada, Pakistan, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and China. At the organizing Koto-Wanwan Satellite Nursery School Ariake Campus, there are 19 children whose both parents are foreign nationals. Including parents who can communicate in Japanese, there are approximately 25 families with foreign roots.

Until now, while there were opportunities to exchange greetings in daily childcare, there were limited occasions to slowly get to know each other's cultures and feelings. 'So that parents with foreign roots do not feel isolated in the nursery,' 'So that children can experience the world from a familiar place.' The TaKaSaGo International Festival started from these wishes.

The first edition saw about 80 participants, including staff. The second edition gathered 89 families, with parents from various countries showcasing their home cultures and foods. A space has been created where children, parents, and local residents can interact, transcending differences in country and language. For this third edition, we aim to create a place where families can naturally experience world cultures while having fun.

A manga conveying the background and history of the event has been created and is being published on Instagram. Please take a look at the feelings behind the event and its journey so far.

Organizer's Comment

The TaKaSaGo International Festival is an event for children to experience world cultures in a familiar place. At the same time, we hope it becomes a place to deepen connections among parents. Even if countries and languages differ, singing, dancing, and talking together naturally creates bonds. For this third edition, in addition to programs for families to enjoy, we will also hold a symposium to think about the future of education. We hope current families, families with preschool children, local residents, and those interested in education will come and visit.
