Art Exhibition by 53 People with Intellectual Disabilities Held in Imabari Gallery

Social Welfare Corporation Kizuna-kai will hold the exhibition 'Beyond Imabari Fukushien - Our Feelings All Over the Walls' at Dandan BASE Gallery in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture. The participating artists are 53 residents, aged 32 to 79, of the support facility Imabari Fukushien. Daily routines in group living provide few opportunities for residents to express their inner feelings, joy, and energy. This exhibition turns the blank gallery walls into a stage for their free expression. The exhibition runs from June 27 to 29 and July 4 to 6, 2026. Rather than presenting finished works, it exhibits the actual process and results of their expressions. There is no predefined final form. The venue will also feature a free workshop corner set up by 'Osusowake HUB' for visitors to participate. The Dandan BASE Gallery opened in spring 2025 as a hub to connect the local community through creative activities. Kizuna-kai aims to foster a community where differences are accepted by sharing the experience of creative art. This exhibition represents their attempt to open the inner world of the facility to the public and create new local connections.
