### About the 'Yakko-furi' of Aburahi

The 'Yakko-furi' of Aburahi is an event dedicated every five years by the 'Uenodou' at the annual festival of Aburahi Shrine on May 1 and is a designated intangible folk cultural asset of Shiga Prefecture. Since the previous event was postponed due to the spread of COVID-19, this will be the first time in 10 years that it has been held.

Yakko-furi is an accompaniment procession that follows the festival master called Todo. More than 100 people participate in the accompaniment, including Nagamochi Yakko, Hasanbako Yakko, and Keyari Yakko. They wear colorful costumes and parade through the village all day long while performing energetic songs and unique choreography.
