# Report: "Groping Handbook" Production Project for Junior High/High School Students and Adults Concludes Crowdfunding with ¥2.37 Million in Support from 337 Individuals
~Production and distribution begins, powered by the voices of "former victims"~

NPO SISTERS, which aims to create a society free from sexual violence (located in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Representative: Ayane Suzuki), has announced the conclusion of its crowdfunding campaign for the "#WeWillEliminateGroping Together" project to produce and distribute a "Groping Handbook" for junior high/high school students and adults on March 15, 2026.

During the campaign period, a total of ¥2,371,770 was received from 337 supporters. Although the goal of ¥5 million was not met, many supporters shared messages based on their past experiences, such as "I and my friends were victims when we were students and thought it was unavoidable," and "We don't want future generations to experience the same." The organization has begun production and distribution, driven by these heartfelt sentiments.

## Project Overview: Why is a Handbook Needed Now?

This project aims to produce and distribute a "Handbook on Groping" for junior high/high school students and a "Digital Handbook for Adults."

According to a survey by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, approximately 1 in 5 women and 1 in 12 men experience groping in their lifetime. The most common age for experiencing this for the first time is high school, followed by university. (Source: Tokyo Metropolitan Government, FY Reiwa 6 Groping Victimization Survey).

However, despite groping being the most common form of sexual violence for current junior and high school students, it is often treated as "unavoidable" or "not a big deal." We, who were once students ourselves, launched this project with the desire to change this current reality. The project features are as follows:

* Deliver a handbook on groping to junior and high school students, supervised by a psychologist.
* Disseminate through a digital booklet what third-party adults can do when witnessing groping.
* Make groping everyone's problem, not just a problem for teenage victims.

## Future Developments

Although the target amount was not reached, requiring a revision of the initially planned distribution of 30,000 copies, the organization will proceed with the project using the funds raised to reach as many people as possible.

1. **Distribution of the handbook for junior and high school students will begin sequentially to cooperating schools starting in May.**
2. **The digital handbook for adults will be released online, and public relations efforts will be strengthened towards "Groping Prevention Month" in June.**

## Messages from Supporters (Partial Introduction)

* When I was a high school student and experienced groping, I cried out "Help!" but no one came to my aid. I was struggling alone, and since then, saying "Help" has become embarrassing. Looking back, perhaps the adults around me didn't know how to help. Seeing this initiative, I realized that to create a society where people can say "Help," we need more people who can receive that plea. I support your activities!

* It's been 20 years since I was a victim of groping. I am reminded of the abnormality of sexual assault occurring in public spaces and situations where victims are made to feel "it's unavoidable" persisting for over 20 years... I was deeply moved by the sincere and passionate writing of the initiators. I support this project to be known by many people and for the distribution of the booklets to be realized!

* I graduated from a girls' school in a city area, and many of my classmates and I were victims. When we sought help from teachers, we received secondary victimization. To our past selves who suppressed painful feelings of "Is it my fault?" alone, and to everyone living now, I want to convey this project.

* I also experienced being a victim of groping on my morning commute train, and I cried at the next station. Even now, it is one of the reasons why I find it difficult to enter men's restrooms. It's not just women who are victims of groping. It's a problem that men must also consider, so I will provide assistance.

* When I was in high school, a friend told me she had been groped, but I couldn't say anything. I didn't know what to say. I might have reacted in a way that constituted secondary victimization. After studying gender equality and sexual violence in university, I finally recognized that groping was not "unavoidable" or "naturally occurring" but a crime committed with malicious intent. Therefore, I support activities that deliver correct knowledge to students! This is the activity we needed back then.

"I am deeply grateful for the encouragement from so many people, 337 in total. Many of the comments received this time were sincere wishes from adults who experienced victimization decades ago, saying, 'We don't want current students to go through the same thing.'

Although we did not reach our goal, we cannot stop here. We will carefully use the ¥2.37 million received to deliver the message "You are not to blame" to as many junior and high school students as possible, and to give adults the courage to know "We can do something."

Our challenge truly begins now. We promise to transform this small step into a significant movement that moves society as a whole.
