[Kiryu City, Gunma] The 30th Dance Yagibushi - Teams Wanted!

The 30th Dance Yagibushi, a major event of the Kiryu Yagibushi Festival organized by the Kiryu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Youth Division (Chairman Yoshihiko Yoshida), has begun preparations for this year. The event will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM at the Mikijin Kiryu Cultural Hall Silk Hall. Applications for teams are open throughout June. There are two categories: the 'Contest Division' (judged) and the 'Showcase Division' (non-judged). The Contest Division is split into 'Kids' (elementary school and below) and 'General' (junior high and above). Eligibility is open to anyone who loves to dance, regardless of age, gender, or nationality. Individuals may also participate. (Teams with members high school age or younger must include an adult representative.) Choreography and dance styles are free, including Yosakoi, Hula, Jazz, or Aerobics, or traditional Yagibushi. Costumes should be original. Music must include a 30-second phrase of Yagibushi, and the total length must be under 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
