The 'Samba Bon Dance' will also be performed, fusing Asakusa Samba with Japan’s summer tradition of Bon dance. This blend of Asakusa’s vibrant energy and Bon dance will create a participatory entertainment experience enjoyable for children, adults, locals, and tourists alike.
June 27 will be the main day of TOKYO Bon Dance × STEAM Festival, uniting learning, music, dance, and community exchange.
Adults dance, children create music.
People of all generations gather, learn, and connect.
TOKYO Bon Dance × STEAM Festival 2026 is an initiative to launch a new form of Japanese culture from Ueno.
DJ KOO (TRF) and Child DJ RINOKA: A Cross-Generational Performance!
A major highlight of this event is the appearance of DJ KOO (TRF), a long-standing figure in Japan’s music scene, and DJ RINOKA, a child prodigy representing the next generation—two artists bridging generations.
DJ KOO (TRF), leader and DJ of the dance and vocal group TRF, has led Japan’s music scene for decades. Recently, he has performed as a DJ at events nationwide, spreading the joy of music across generations.
On the pre-festival night of June 26 (Fri), DJ KOO (TRF), DJ Oasis a.k.a. DJ Oasis the Funk P. (King Giddra), ZEN-LA-ROCK a.k.a. COMBINATE FUTURE, and sea will perform, creating a unique musical space where Bon dance and DJ culture intersect—distinct to TOKYO Bon Dance.
By featuring both beloved artists from older generations and rising young talents, the event highlights music’s power to connect people across age and background.
Guinness World Record-Holding Next-Gen DJ RINOKA!
DJ RINOKA, performing on June 27, is a next-generation DJ who first touched DJ equipment at age 5 and made her DJ debut at age 6.
She has over 1 million total social media followers and more than 300 million total video views.
She is also officially recognized by Guinness World Records for two titles: 'Youngest Club DJ (female)' and 'Youngest DJ (female) to perform at a music festival'.
Representing Tokyo’s 'TOKYO NEO TECHNO' movement, she performs at festivals and events both in Japan and abroad. Beyond music, she works as a model and brand ambassador, gaining global attention as a young artist.
At this TOKYO Bon Dance event, she will appear as a symbol of next-generation artists, embodying the festival’s themes of STEAM education and cultural heritage.
For children, this will be an inspiring moment that says, 'I can do it too.'
For adults, it will be a chance to witness the potential of the next generation.
Bon Dance Can Be Freer and More Fun
In recent years, many local festivals and Bon dances have struggled to continue due to a shortage of participants and an aging demographic.
Yet Bon dance holds a unique power: it brings people together in a circle, transcending age, nationality, and background.
TOKYO Bon Dance aims to modernize this power.
By fusing Japan’s Bon dance with Asakusa’s iconic samba, DJ music production, and STEAM education that nurtures children’s creativity, the festival reimagines Bon dance not as a 'traditional event,' but as a cultural experience that inspires the next generation to participate.
STEAM Experiences Where Children Become Creators, Not Just Spectators
On June 27 (Sat), a STEAM Festival for children will be held.
Children will engage in hands-on experiences such as DJing, music production, VJing, and fan making—using music, visuals, and art to create their own expressions.
Completed tracks will be performed live on stage.
Children won’t just watch—they’ll create sounds with their own sensibilities and participate as creators who energize the venue.
Through these experiences, they will cultivate creativity, expression, and the courage to challenge themselves.
'Samba Bon Dance': Fusing Asakusa Samba with Bon Dance
The main program on June 27 (Sat) will feature the 'Samba Bon Dance,' a fusion of Bon dance and Asakusa Samba.
The vibrant energy of Asakusa meets Japan’s summer tradition of Bon dance.
By merging two iconic cultures of Taito City, the event will create a new participatory entertainment experience that unites domestic and international visitors.
The entire venue will become one circle—where dance, music, community, and people connect.
Launching a New Future for Japanese Culture from Ueno
Ueno Imperial Park, the festival’s venue, is a cultural, artistic, and tourist hub in Tokyo.
From Ueno, this festival aims not only to preserve tradition, but to evolve it into a form that can be passed on to future generations.
TOKYO Bon Dance × STEAM Festival 2026 aims to create a new model for local communities by bringing together residents, families, tourists, businesses, and organizations.
