[Event Report] 24,000 Spectators Attend Opening Round of New 3x3 Basketball League 'RBL', Shonan Seaside Crowned First Champion

UNIVA RBL Co., Ltd. held the opening round of its new 3x3 professional basketball league, 'RBL (ROYAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE)', called the 'Shinjuku Round' at Cinecity Square in Kabukicho, Tokyo, on May 30th and 31st, 2026.

A total of 24,000 spectators visited the venue over the two days. Twelve of Japan's top teams competed, creating an atmosphere fitting for the launch of RBL, which promotes itself as the 'shortest route from Japan to the world.'

'RBL (ROYAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE)' is a new professional league for 3x3 basketball. It was established under the leadership of Commissioner Dr. Rohit Bakshi, a former professional basketball player and pioneer in the 3x3 format, bringing his experience and expertise to the new venture.

The 12 domestic teams fought intensely for critical points needed to qualify for the world tournament, 'FIBA 3x3 Challenger'.

The event attracted not only basketball fans but also tourists and shoppers, who were drawn in by the fast-paced 3x3 action. The event featured performances by sports MC Nagisa, DJ PACHI-YELLOW, a guest appearance by comedian Hiroshi Tamura of the comedy duo 'Kirin', as well as cheerleading and dance performances, creating a high-energy, integrated entertainment experience.

The tournament was won by 'Shonan Seaside'. In the final against 'Warabi United', Shonan Seaside's Tomoyuki Kato (#35) hit a decisive 2-point shot with about 5 seconds remaining, leading to a dramatic 16-14 victory. Zvonimir Stunja (#5) was named MVP.

- Round 3 Kyoto Round (June 27-28) at Okazaki Park, Kyoto
