Freestyle Basketball National Tournament "GroovMix" Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Opening Event

The national freestyle basketball tournament "GroovMix" will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2026, and its opening event, "GroovMix 2K26 — 10th Anniversary — EAST-1," will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at LaLaport Toyosu in Tokyo, as part of the TOYOSU STREET PARK FES.

GroovMix is a competition where participants showcase basketball skills and expression to music. It has recently expanded its use in commercial facilities and events as content that not only entertains but also provides an experience.

This tournament will be held in two divisions: U-15 and OPEN categories. The winners of each category will be granted the right to participate in the championship scheduled for December 2026.

OPEN winner / U15 winner and runner-up will be granted championship participation rights for each category.

On the same day and at the same venue, a qualifying round for the "JFFC (Japan Freestyle Football Championship)," organized by JF3, will also be held. This setup allows attendees to enjoy two competitions at once.

About GroovMix

GroovMix is a national freestyle basketball tournament that has been continuously held in Tokyo. As a long-running tournament, it is considered one of the oldest freestyle basketball tournaments globally.
It is a 1-on-1 battle format where players compete with skills and expression to music, serving as a challenging platform for players to showcase their style and an exciting spectator content for visitors to enjoy powerful performances up close.

Furthermore, starting from the 2026 season, which marks its 10th anniversary, a new U-15 category will be established. This aims to expand opportunities for nurturing next-generation players and will be implemented as an annual series with qualifying tournaments held across the country, leading to the championship in December.

BALLMAN UNION holds freestyle basketball and freestyle football schools every Tuesday at Yoyogi Park BE STAGE SPOT. Beginners are welcome, and participants of all ages, from children to adults, can join.
