Background of the Challenge — From a Young Man Told He'd Be "Lifelong in a Wheelchair" to Walking Again
Representative Yosuke Ueno dedicated 13 years, from elementary school grade 2 through university, to baseball with the goal of becoming a professional. However, at 19 years old, a traffic accident led to him being told he would "spend his life in a wheelchair," shattering the dream he had pursued.
The catalyst for standing up again from the depths of despair was a training method he devised himself. Through an approach that stimulates the nervous system and inner muscles, he regained his ability to walk and has since recovered to the point of recording a personal best score of 82 in golf. This experience of "crawling up from rock bottom" became the origin of his later business and this challenge.
"I want to spread training that strengthens the muscles truly necessary for humans to the world."
"I want to give people who are about to give up the same way a chance to look forward again."
The challenge that embodies these aspirations is "REVIVE WALK 2026 in HONOLULU Supported by Nissei Techno Co., Ltd.," aiming to complete the 42.195km Honolulu Marathon with two poles.
Why This Challenge Now — Social Significance
A person once told they would be "lifelong in a wheelchair" regains the ability to walk through their own training and challenges 42.195km. This is not just an individual's challenge. For those who have lost physical freedom due to accidents or illness, those undergoing rehabilitation, and those concerned about their physical functions with aging, this is an attempt to show with results that "you don't have to give up."
Simultaneously, this challenge is an effort to prove with the representative's own body the potential of the "nervous system and inner muscles" approach that ReviveGym is pursuing.
