Reelu Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO and Representative Director: Shu Konno; hereinafter "Reelu") announces that Shun Ito from Reelu's Customer Success team delivered a guest lecture on May 11, 2026, at Kanazawa University's Faculty of Integrated Sciences, Department of Tourism Design, in the course "Tourism Regional Business" (instructors: Associate Professor Ryo Ohsera, Professor Hikaru Saneta).

During the lecture, aimed at students interested in tourism business, Ito introduced Reelu's premium spot-work service and shared real-world examples of Reelu's human resource matching business in the tourism and inbound sectors.

The session went beyond theoretical business ideas, sharing firsthand experiences from Reelu's operations about the practical challenges faced when launching, managing, and scaling a business—such as the "barriers to implementation" and the "realities of scaling." The lecture was delivered online from 15:15 to 16:00 on May 11, 2026.

Background

With the expansion of Japan's inbound tourism market and the increasing sophistication of regional tourism, the tourism industry now demands more than just creative ideas—it requires the ability to design business models that can be implemented and sustainably operated on the ground.

Kanazawa University's Faculty of Integrated Sciences, Department of Tourism Design, is characterized by its interdisciplinary integration of humanities, sciences, and medicine, offering cross-disciplinary education in tourism, regional development, business, and design. This lecture provided students with a practical opportunity to deepen their understanding of tourism business types, travel agency revenue structures, and the real-world challenges of building viable business concepts—making Reelu a relevant guest speaker.

Lecture Overview

In addition to introducing Reelu's business, the lecture covered topics such as launching a human resource matching service, operational challenges in the field, and mechanisms for ensuring service quality.

Particular emphasis was placed on themes like "guide matching" and "utilizing tourism talent," which are accessible even to students. The lecture highlighted the importance of designing for both demand and supply sides, training and education, quality control, revenue models, and creating ongoing work opportunities to turn such ideas into sustainable businesses.

<Key Lecture Topics>

- Human resource needs and challenges in tourism and inbound sectors

- Training, education, and quality assurance systems for field staff

- Revenue models for spot-work services

- Strategies for scaling tourism businesses

About Kanazawa University, Faculty of Integrated Sciences, Department of Tourism Design

From Kanazawa University's official website:

The Department of Tourism Design aims to nurture next-generation leaders capable of creating new tourism value in a rapidly changing global tourism landscape. Drawing on an integrated humanities, science, and medical perspective, students can explore tourism from diverse angles—including traditional culture, urban development, regional revitalization, data science, IoT technology, disaster prevention, sustainable development, and industrial transformation.

Through collaborations with local governments and businesses, students engage in practical learning, including tourism strategies for regional recovery following the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in early 2024, centered on Kanazawa—a city renowned for tourism. Student Feedback

Following the lecture, students presented their final projects, with many groups developing B2B business plans. While consumer-facing service models have traditionally been common, this year saw more sophisticated approaches, including multi-layered revenue modeling. Feedback suggested that Reelu's case study served as a meaningful reference in shaping these business plans.

Additionally, several students registered with Reelu after the lecture, creating valuable connections with students interested in the tourism industry. Reelu will continue to collaborate with students and educational institutions passionate about tourism, contributing to the development of next-generation talent supporting regional tourism.

From Ryo Ohsera, Representative Director and CEO, Yuugyou Co., Ltd.; Special Associate Professor, Kanazawa University:

"When we ask students to brainstorm tourism business ideas, the concept of 'matching local talent as inbound guides' emerges almost every year. However, the 'barriers to implementation'—in demand-supply design, training, quality assurance, and monetization—are high; easier said than done.

Reelu is a rare company that has actually overcome these barriers, with a vetting system for quality assurance, a mechanism to access multilingual talent by the hour, and creating ongoing work opportunities through repeat bookings. That's precisely why I wanted them to share real, lived experiences with our students.

The solution of 'spot-work × multilingual services' holds great potential for addressing the core challenges of inbound growth and regional labor shortages. Reelu's broad applicability, including potential business expansion, elevated the students' thinking to a new level. We hope to continue connecting promising tourism businesses with students, nurturing new tourism value from Kanazawa. Thank you for this valuable opportunity."

From Shun Ito, Customer Success, Reelu Co., Ltd.:

"I am deeply honored to have been invited. If I was able to convey even a glimpse of the 'realities of implementation' behind our human resource matching systems and high-value service delivery, I am truly pleased.

The highly motivated questions from students exploring the possibilities of tourism business were incredibly inspiring to me personally. Having the chance to articulate insights that can only be gained from frontline experience allowed me to re-examine the challenges and significance our company has faced. I look forward to continuing to engage with those passionate about the tourism industry and growing the sector together."
