A daughter running across the Namib Desert in Namibia. A symbolic image of vast land and 'gaze'.

Announcer Noriko Enokido is holding a photo exhibition titled "100 Gazes, Circling the Globe with a 5-Year-Old" at Tokoha University's Shizuoka Kusanagi Campus until Sunday, July 5, 2026.

The exhibition centers on her year-long journey around the world with her 5-year-old daughter, visiting over 100 cities across six continents and 32 countries. Around 200 photographs are on display, including images captured in diverse locations such as the Namib Desert in Namibia, the savannas of Kenya, Antarctica, and the Israel-Palestine region. The exhibition also features photos from Spain—the origin of her travel journey—and from 12 countries visited after the world tour.

The venue is Tokoha University’s Shizuoka Kusanagi Campus, Enokido’s alma mater. This marks the first time a world-circumnavigation photo exhibition has been held in Shizuoka.

The exhibition is organized into 14 thematic sections, including "Playing with the Earth," "Let’s Go to the Park!", "Itadakimasu (Time to Eat)," and "Crossing Boundaries." For the Shizuoka exhibition, two new themes have been added: "Memories of the Beginning," focusing on Spain, where her journey originated, and "The Journey Continues," showcasing countries visited after the world tour.

In addition to the photo displays, the venue features a world map tracing the travel route, souvenirs collected during the journey, worksheets for parent-child engagement, and an audio guide narrated by Enokido and her daughter via QR code.

Gallery talks will be held throughout the exhibition period. On the final day, July 5, a lecture titled "What I Discovered on My World Tour" will be held as part of Tokoha University’s 80th-anniversary alumni event.

This photo exhibition presents the lives and cultures encountered during global travels, as seen through the eyes of a 5-year-old child.

Exhibition Highlights:

- Approximately 200 photos displayed across 14 themes, including "Travel as a Teacher," "Let’s Go to the Park!", "Troubles & Happenings," "Beyond the Gaze," and "Itadakimasu." - Mementos brought back from the journey

- A world map and the one-year travel route, designed to inspire future travels

Comment from Noriko Enokido:

"Travel begins not with special preparation, but simply by taking that first step.

As adults, we often postpone our dreams due to work or social obligations. I myself once believed my dream of circumnavigating the world would never come true.

Yet by taking that first step, I discovered a world far beyond my imagination.

I hope this photo exhibition can inspire someone to take their own next step."
