Enjoy Traditional Events Even More! The Ryokan Tokyo YUGAWARA Implements Support Project for Yugawara's Iconic "Yugawara Onsen Yukake Matsuri"

Onsen Dojo Co., Ltd. (Tokigawa-machi, Hiki-gun, Saitama Prefecture, Representative Director Toshiki Yamazaki), which operates "The Ryokan Tokyo YUGAWARA (hereinafter, TRT)" in Yugawara, will implement a support event for the "Yugawara Onsen Yukake Matsuri" to be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

The Yugawara Onsen Yukake Matsuri is a representative festival of Yugawara, hosted by the Yugawara Onsen Tourism Association and Onsenba-ku. To ensure guests can fully enjoy the Yukake Matsuri, TRT has prepared several services to support the festival.

◎ Original Towel Distribution

Guests using our day-trip hot spring Ofuro Cafe HITOMA, or overnight guests participating in the "Yukake Matsuri", will receive a "Yukake Matsuri Support Towel".

Target audience: Guests using our facility for a day trip or overnight stay.

Applicable dates: Day trip May 23 (Sat), overnight stay May 23 (Sat) or check-out May 24 (Sun).

◎ Special Amazake Offering

Special amazake will be offered to guests participating in the Yukake Matsuri. We carefully prepare amazake, which has been known as a source of energy for Japanese people since ancient times. Recharge your energy before and after the festival with our special amazake.

◎ Worry-free even if you get soaked! Clothes Drying Service

We offer a clothes drying service so you can enjoy the festival to the fullest without the hassle of hanging wet clothes or worrying about taking them home wet.

How to use: Please hand over your wet clothes to our staff by 9 PM. Your dry clothes will be delivered by 9 AM the next morning. Each guest can have up to 3 items dried.

Target audience: Guests staying overnight at our facility.

■ Yugawara Onsen Yukake Matsuri

An iconic seasonal tradition of Yugawara. Portable shrines parade through the hot spring town, showered with hot spring water. Along the street, 1,000 barrels and approximately 5,000 buckets filled with 60 tons of hot spring water are prepared for spectators to vigorously splash onto the portable shrines.

The origin of "Yukake Matsuri" dates back to the Edo period. It is said to have begun with the ancient custom of filling barrels with highly efficacious hot spring water and presenting them to daimyo families and imperial villas.

■ The Ryokan Tokyo YUGAWARA

The Ryokan Tokyo YUGAWARA is a hot spring ryokan located in Yugawara Onsen, a place with a history so ancient it was even featured in the Manyoshu anthology, and loved by literary giants such as Natsume Soseki and Ryunosuke Akutagawa. It pursues new forms of ryokan that are not bound by traditional concepts, such as "Adult manuscript writing package" and "Self-care package."
