An increasing number of people considering getting a cat are looking to adopt from breeders. According to the "National Dog and Cat Ownership Survey" (2024) by the Japan Pet Food Association, the number of new cat owners reaches 359,000 annually (Source: Pet Food Association 2024).

However, information regarding breeders' rearing environments and health management systems is often limited to what can be observed during a visit, and there is a lack of objective means to compare multiple breeders. This tool is designed to enable owners to evaluate and compare breeders' rearing systems along three axes: "Rearing Environment," "Health Management," and "Aftercare."

Input Items and Evaluation Mechanism

This tool allows users to input breeder information across the following three categories and a total of 15 items. It is possible to input and compare up to three breeders simultaneously.

Category 1: Rearing Environment (5 items)

• Is visits possible? (Visit possible / Online visit only / Visit not possible)
• Scale of breeding population (Small-scale elite / Medium-scale / Large-scale)
• Cleanliness of rearing space (Input impression during visit on a 5-point scale)
• Can the condition of the parent cats be confirmed? (Possible / Not possible / Could not confirm)
• Management of breeding frequency (Was the number of litters per year inquired about? / Not inquired about)

Category 2: Health Management (5 items)

• Vaccination status (1 dose administered / 2 doses administered / Not vaccinated)
• Provision of health certificates (Provided / Provided upon request / Not provided)
• Genetic disease testing (Tested / Not tested / Unknown)
• Deworming and flea/tick prevention (Implemented / Not implemented / Unknown)
• Presence of a regular veterinarian (Yes / No / Unknown)

Category 3: Aftercare (5 items)

Output Evaluation Results

1. Overall Scores for Three Axes (100 points each)

Each category (Rearing Environment, Health Management, Aftercare) is scored out of 100 points and displayed visually in a radar chart format.

2. Detailed Evaluation by Item

Each of the 15 items is evaluated and displayed in one of three levels: "Meets Recommended Standards," "Slightly Lacking," or "Requires Confirmation."

3. Comparison Table Between Breeders

A table is displayed for side-by-side comparison of up to three breeders. Items with significant score differences are highlighted to aid in decision-making.

4. Visit Confirmation Checklist

For items where the answer was "Unknown" or "Could not confirm" during input, a checklist of questions to ask during the next visit or online consultation is provided.
