MAGOKORO DINING Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kei Nippei), a company that operates multiple food brands with a focus on delivery services and provides end-to-end dining solutions from product development to operational design, will operate a stall under the name "KINGSTON JERKCHICKEN" at "JAMAICA FESTIVAL 2026 Reggae & Cuisine in Tokyo," an outdoor festival celebrating Jamaican culture through all five senses, to be held on June 20 (Sat) and 21 (Sun), 2026, at the Keyaki-lined avenue in Yoyogi Park, Tokyo.

On the day, in addition to the popular signature "Jerk Chicken" from its regular stores, the brand will offer a wide range of limited-time festival-exclusive menu items, delivering the authentic heat and deliciousness of Jamaica directly to visitors.

Background and Motivation Behind Participating in JAMAICA FESTIVAL 2026

KINGSTON JERKCHICKEN has steadily grown its fanbase across Japan’s delivery markets and street-side locations under the mission of "Bringing the authentic excitement of Jamaica closer to home," offering genuine Jamaican soul food.

The founder first tasted authentic Jamaican jerk chicken in 1998 on the streets of Kingston, the capital of Jamaica. From a grill made of halved oil drums, smoke rose into the air as reggae music played nearby. The bold flavor—spicy heat layered with smoky charcoal—delivered a shock unlike anything he had ever experienced in Japan.

At the time, Kingston was known for its poor safety, with certain areas considered off-limits even by locals, making it far from an easy destination to visit. Nevertheless, driven by a desire to experience the authentic taste, the founder made repeated trips to Jamaica. In 1999, during an era when the word "jerk" was virtually unknown in Japan, he opened a jerk chicken restaurant in Sapporo.

After opening, he traveled to Jamaica twice more, learning preparation techniques directly from local cooks, and also explored regions where jerk chicken had taken root in different forms. In 2019, he launched a food truck in New York, and just last month, he visited a shop in Los Angeles that specializes in jerk chicken and builds its own drum-can stoves. Through exposure to Jamaican cuisine across various locations, he has continuously refined his own culinary approach.

This journey ultimately led to the long-held dream of opening in Tokyo. Today, KINGSTON JERKCHICKEN operates physical stores primarily in Tokyo and Kanagawa.

A passion unchanged for 27 years, and a powerful recipe rooted in Jamaica itself.

Through this year’s "JAMAICA FESTIVAL 2026," the brand aims to share its meticulously crafted flavors with as many people as possible.

During these two special days, we invite you to fully experience Jamaica through all five senses—through music, art, and the delicious offerings of KINGSTON JERKCHICKEN.
