A heartwarming collection of short piano pieces "Retention"
This EP "Retention" consists of five short piano pieces of about 1 to 2 minutes each. The somewhat nostalgic and beautiful melodies and harmonies will soothe the hearts of not only the listeners but also the performers themselves. The performances are relatively easy, so we hope they will become a new repertoire for many piano enthusiasts. The sheet music is scheduled to be sold on the members-only site of the music community "DICT Music DAO Classics" described later.
Created from the framework of a project aiming to establish a new classical music culture
"Retention" was born from the framework of "DICT Music DAO Classics," a "sandbox community for composers and performers aiming to establish a new classical music culture through co-creation," launched in November 2025.
This community emphasizes the curiosity, or intrinsic motivation, of composers and performers, and even in this collection of short pieces, there were no instructions regarding deadlines or direction; the pieces were freely composed based on the composer's curiosity.
In this framework, popular incidental music composers such as Rei Ishizuka, Michiru Oshima, Kosuke Yamashita, and Kenta Higashioji have written about 50 newly composed pieces, striving to expand the repertoire of performers.
Becoming performers' repertoire through a new music utilization system
For the songs created from DICT Music DAO Classics, including this collection of short pieces, certain copyright elements such as "performing rights" are released to community members. During their membership, they can freely perform them at concerts and events (without the need for application or payment to copyright management organizations).
