Kailas Robotics Awarded 'Excellence Award'

Kailas Robotics (Headquarters: Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture; Representative Directors: Yoshihisa Shiomi, Adeyasuren Altanbileg) received the 'Excellence Award' at the 13th JR East Startup Program DEMO DAY, held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, and hosted by JR East Startup Co., Ltd.

Kailas Robotics was one of seven companies selected from 191 applicants for the autumn 2025 program. The company focused on 'labor-saving and safety improvements in high-altitude railway facility inspections via robotic arms.' Following their pitch at the DEMO DAY, they were presented with the Excellence Award, second only to the Grand Prize.

Initiative Background and Content

The company leverages its proprietary mobile-specialized robotic arm, 'MobiRobo,' to automate high-altitude and hard-to-reach tasks in railway facilities. Its patented technology (Patent No. 7471705) enables real-time vibration and tilt correction even on unstable platforms, allowing flexible operations without fixed installations.

Proof-of-concept experiments target efficiency improvements and safety risk reduction through tasks such as automated acoustic inspection of bridges over five meters high and remote operation of power distribution panels near station ceilings. Future plans involve expanding beyond railways to address broader social infrastructure needs, including power, telecommunications, and roads.

Proprietary Actuator 'KRA01'

The 'KRA01,' a robotic actuator that serves as the core technology behind 'MobiRobo,' was also showcased. Its hollow design (φ14mm central bore) allows wiring to be routed internally, providing high design flexibility. Despite its compact size, it achieves a rated torque of up to 14 N·m and a peak torque of up to 70 N·m. It supports EtherCAT, ROS/ROS2, and provides control APIs/SDKs to facilitate rapid development.

CEO Comment

Yoshihisa Shiomi, CEO of Kailas Robotics, stated: 'This award is a firm step toward our vision of realizing robots that work in places unreachable by humans. We intend to further accelerate our technology development and contribute to the safety and efficiency of all social infrastructure, starting with railways.'
