The online landscape photography store 'FROM_SOMEWHERE' (operated by KAFUL Inc.) was born with the purpose of delivering travel memories and inspiration to everyday life through landscape photography, creating opportunities to go out. Today, we are launching 'THE FRAME COLLECTION', a joint project with the travel and lifestyle magazine 'PAPERSKY' to deliver scenery of Japan's national parks as framed photographs.
As the first installment, scenery captured by photographer Isao Nishiyama while traveling through Chubu Sangaku National Park goes on sale at the online store. Alongside this, 'Share Your View', a photo contest seeking perspectives from general travelers with the aim of commercializing winning entries, also begins.
1. Project Background: Guiding travels with stories of landscapes.
This project was born out of resonance with the mission of the 'National Park Poster Project', launched in 2020 by PAPERSKY, an official partner of Japan's national parks. It is not merely a 'record of spectacular views', but elevates the scenery—imbued with the wind, light, and the traveler's body temperature flowing there—into 'framed photographs' that nestle in everyday life. We aim for a single photograph displayed in a room to become the gateway to someone's new journey.
2. Vol.01: Chubu Sangaku National Park | The Quiet Dawn Captured by Isao Nishiyama
The stage for the first installment is 'Chubu Sangaku National Park', which boasts rugged yet beautiful mountain landscapes. Photographer Isao Nishiyama, who travels the world carefully scooping up the atmosphere of the land and human activities, walked through the park—including Kamikochi, Dakesawa, and the Karasawa Cirque—and we have added three carefully selected shots from those landscapes to the collection.
On the special website, an original photo essay written by Mr. Nishiyama is published. It offers an experience to deeply appreciate a single landscape along with the story behind the photograph.
Product Overview: Framed photographs (Available sizes: A4 / A3 / Custom order)
Sales Price: From 32,000 yen (tax included)
Limited Set: Purchasers of framed photographs will receive a set including a 'NATIONAL PARK POSTER TRIP' postcard drawn by CHALKBOY and a FROM_SOMEWHERE original wooden stand.
3. Your Perspective Becomes a Product. Photo Contest 'Share Your View'
This project not only sells professional works but also calls for 'national park landscapes' taken by the general public.
'Share Your View' is a contest open to everyone via Instagram. Winning entries will be officially added to the collection as the perspective of 'THE NEW CREATORS' and sold framed at FROM_SOMEWHERE. Furthermore, it adopts a creator-support mechanism where a portion of the sales is returned to the photographer.
Theme: Emotionally moving scenery taken at Chubu Sangaku National Park
How to Apply: Post on Instagram with the specified hashtag '#飾る国立公園' (#DecorateNationalParks) and mention @from__somewhere
Judges: FROM_SOMEWHERE, Lucas B.B. (Editor-in-Chief, PAPERSKY), Isao Nishiyama (Photographer)
