Marriages with a 10+ Year Age Gap Account for Only 4.6%. Analysis of the Severe Correlation Between Financial Power and Age Gap [Big Data from Approx. 20,000 People]

IBJ Co., Ltd., which creates the largest number of marriages in Japan, has released the results of a survey on the correlation between age gap marriages and financial power, as the 6th installment of the '2025 IBJ Marriage White Paper'. Analyzing data from approximately 20,000 people, it was found that marriages with an age gap of 10 years or more are extremely rare, accounting for only 4.6%. The dividing line where the age gap begins to widen to 5 years or more is an annual income of 15 million yen. The average annual income of men who marry women 10 or more years younger is 11.7 million yen. In contrast, for couples where the woman is 5+ years older, the man's average income is 5.35 million yen. Over half of the couples have an age gap of 4 years or less, highlighting the importance of shared values in modern marriages.
