HUIS, an apparel brand using Enshu textiles (Headquarters: Kamigaya-cho, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture), is holding its first exhibition, "HUIS and Fabric Exhibition - From Production Area to Daily Life," for nine days from July 4 (Sat) to July 12 (Sun), 2026, at the Hamamatsu City Kamie Art Center.
HUIS has delivered clothing that stays with people for a long time in daily life, based in "Enshu," a textile production area rooted in the western part of Shizuoka Prefecture, in collaboration with artisans and factories in the region. This exhibition, starting with "fabric," which is indispensable for HUIS's clothing production, introduces raw materials, threads, weaving, production area tools and techniques, and initiatives to connect regional industries to the future.

A unique feature of this exhibition is the collaboration with intern students, including university and vocational school students from within the city and the Kanto region. We hope this will be an opportunity to widely convey the charm of Enshu textiles to consumers both inside and outside the region, foster interaction among interested students, and deepen their understanding of Enshu textiles.
At the venue, there will be exhibits where visitors can see and touch unique fabrics and threads before they become clothing, as well as explanations of the division of labor in the Enshu production area and the process of weaving a single piece of fabric. In addition, collaborative activities with the region and other production areas, such as a dyeing renewal project and cotton cultivation in terraced fields, will also be exhibited.

HUIS's characteristic is its product development centered on Enshu textiles woven on the valuable old "shuttle looms" that still exist in the Enshu production area. The brand, which started in 2014 by a couple, led by Masaki Matsushita (Representative), who was formerly involved in industrial promotion as a Hamamatsu City official, is an apparel brand originating from a production area. Books "HUIS's Clothing Production" (Shufu to Seikatsusha, 2024) and "The Choice of Production Area-Based Apparel" (Kodansha, 2026) have been published.
The "Shibuya Showroom" at Shibuya Scramble Square 9F (inside garage) is the flagship store, bustling with domestic and international visitors. "Enshu Textiles" have long been known in the industry as world-class high-end shirt fabric. HUIS's fabrics, woven slowly over 20 to 30 times the usual time, possess special texture and functionality.

This book condenses the story from being captivated by "Enshu Textiles" during his time at the city office in charge of promoting agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, to starting his business, and the know-how for brand growth, depicted from the perspective of an "administrative official x entrepreneur." HUIS, a brand that emerged from a regional textile production area, has achieved steady growth with high-quality fabrics born from old looms as its weapon, with a different value system from mass production and mass consumption. This book depicts its trajectory, challenges, and the new possibility of "production area-based apparel."
