GOODREI Launches "Digi-Taxel," a Service for Entrusting Experts with the Organization of the "Big Three Digital Legacies": Smartphones, SNS, and Generative AI

GOODREI Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Kensuke Sueyoshi; hereinafter "GOODREI") will begin offering "Digi-Taxel," a new service to support the organization, inheritance, and deletion of digital data, primarily targeting the "digital active generation" aged 40 to 60, starting May 7, 2026.

"Digi-Taxel" is a service that assists in organizing digital information deeply intertwined with modern life, such as data within smartphones and PCs, message history and accounts on SNS, and chat histories with generative AI, based on the individual's wishes during their lifetime.

Upon the individual's passing, information that should be left to family members will be appropriately transferred, while information not intended to be seen or unnecessary data will be supported for deletion and organization according to a pre-determined policy.

■ Background of "Digi-Taxel" Provision

1. The "Digital Active Generation" Born from the Popularity of Smartphones and SNS

According to a survey by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the household ownership rate of smartphones reached 90.5% in 2024, making smartphones an indispensable information terminal for daily life. SNS has also permeated a wide range of age groups and is used in various situations such as contacting family and friends, work, hobbies, and information gathering.

In the smartphones and accounts of this "digital active generation," a vast amount of life logs, different in nature from traditional legacies, are accumulated, including photos, videos, messages, search history, location information, subscription contracts, financial information, and conversation histories with generative AI.

2. Needs for "Data Deletion After Death" Revealed by Independent Survey

GOODREI's independent survey (※) revealed that approximately 65% of respondents would have digital data they "do not want family or others to see" or "want to be deleted" in the event of their death. In addition to "message app chat histories (approx. 43%)" and "website browsing/search histories (approx. 44%)", there is also a modern specific need to organize "generative AI chat histories (22%)".

Data deletion itself can sometimes be done using device or service functions. However, it is not easy to meticulously separate information to be left to family from information not intended to be seen. Furthermore, there is also the challenge that settings executed after death or automatic deletion functions are difficult to confirm during one's lifetime.

3. The Reality of Stagnant "Digital End-of-Life Planning"

The same survey showed that approximately 64% had "not taken any measures" regarding the disposal of data they did not want to be seen. It appears that many people feel the necessity of digital legacy organization but are not taking actual measures due to reasons such as "not knowing where to start" or "not knowing how to separate information to show family from information not to show."

4. The Importance of Pre-mortem Organization Revealed from the Field of Legacy Organization

GOODREI has previously engaged in analyzing the PCs and smartphones of deceased individuals, and supporting the recovery of digital assets including cryptocurrencies, at the request of bereaved families.

However, in recent years, device security features have become highly advanced, making it difficult to unlock and check data after death in some cases. It is not uncommon for access to necessary information to be hindered, causing issues with inheritance procedures and contract cancellations.

Based on these on-site challenges, GOODREI concluded that a system is needed to organize "information to be left" and "information to be deleted" while the individual is healthy, and to reflect their intentions in the event of their death, leading to the development of this service.

■ "Three Major Digital Legacies" Supported by Digi-Taxel

"Digi-Taxel" leverages GOODREI's accumulated specialized knowledge to primarily support the following three areas, which are particularly difficult to organize.

1. Smartphones/PCs (in-device data)

We check photos, videos, documents, browsing history, location history, and in-app data within the device, and assist in organizing information to be left and information to be deleted, according to the individual's wishes.

If necessary, we also consult on designs for transferring only specific information.

2. SNS (relationship logs)

We pre-determine organization policies for SNS accounts, message histories, DMs, and posts according to the individual's wishes.

We support actions within the scope of each service's specifications and terms, such as deleting accounts, organizing specific message histories, and代行 (acting on behalf of) posting death notifications.

3. Generative AI (thought logs)

Chat histories with generative AI contain worries, ideas, work memos, personal thoughts.
