EVeM Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Sadayoshi Nagamura; hereinafter "EVeM"), a provider of management support services, has begun offering a new management training program for female managers and management candidates.
While the promotion and development of female leaders is a critical issue for companies, candidates themselves often struggle with a lack of close role models, anxiety about balancing work and family, and insufficient support after assuming a role, making it difficult to envision a concrete career path as a manager.
This program utilizes EVeM's proprietary "100 Management Frameworks" method to provide training that enables participants to acquire practical skills necessary for management as "techniques." With an emphasis on "usefulness in the practical field," the program aims to support the creation of organizations where diverse leaders can thrive by delivering "management techniques" that female managers and candidates can use to demonstrate their unique leadership.
Background: Developing Female Leaders is an Urgent Issue for Companies
In Japanese society, where the declining birthrate and aging population are accelerating population decrease, the development and support of female leaders has become a major theme.
The government has set a goal of over 30% female representation in executive positions at Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime-listed companies by 2030, and is progressively promoting enhanced disclosure obligations and legal reforms. In January 2023, the "Diversity 3 Indicators" – the ratio of female managers, the gender wage gap, and the male parental leave uptake rate – were mandated for disclosure in securities reports. Furthermore, with the revision of the Act on Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace in April 2026, the scope of companies subject to disclosure will significantly expand, requiring companies with 101 or more employees to publicly announce their ratio of female managers.
In response to these systemic changes, the promotion and development of female leaders is no longer limited to a few large corporations but has become a management issue that a wider range of companies must address systematically.
In particular, fostering a pool of management candidates is an urgent task. However, in Japanese companies where nearly 90% of managers are male, conventional management development support has reached its limits. Therefore, we are launching this new program, believing that support is needed not only to set numerical targets but also to enable candidates to confidently take on challenges and fulfill their practical management duties.
Program Overview
Historically, the development of female leaders has often been discussed in the context of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), such as through Diversity & Inclusion and Unconscious Bias initiatives. While acknowledging the importance of such understanding and environment creation, this program goes a step further by providing opportunities for female managers and candidates to acquire "practical management skills and techniques" that can be utilized in the field.
Specifically, the basic package is a 3-hour session incorporating workshops based on EVeM's "100 Management Frameworks," with partial customization available according to the company's challenges and the participants' situations. The workshops, focused on acquiring management techniques themselves, will be led by specialized trainers with experience as female managers and a track record in DEI support.
